southendmd:
It's not really that far "outside the box" when you consider he hosted the Tony Awards.  Twice.

I think he'd do a fine job.

Getting advice from Billy Crystal:

Kd5000:
IMDB.com is reporting that HUGH JACKMAN will host the Oscars. It's a done deal.  It's been a good year for Jackman as he was also named sexiest man of the year. Too bad AUSTRALIA isn't getting the best of reviews or doing better at the box office. I wonder if AUSTRALIA will get any nominations??
I might watch the OSCARS this year just to see the late Heath Ledger get the award for best supporting actor. I hope for that outcome at least.

And the hosting honor goes to … Hugh Jackman. People's reigning Sexiest Man Alive has been chosen to host the 81st annual Academy Awards ceremony, to take place Feb. 22 The Australia star, 40, who'll be hosting the Oscars for the first time, was selected "because we want the ceremony to be fun," says Laurence Mark, producer of the telecast. "He can hold the screen and he can hold a stage. It doesn't hurt that he looks amazing in a tuxedo and he's the Sexiest Man Alive." Jackman won an Emmy in 2005 for hosting the 59th annual Tony Awards in 2004. He was also nominated as host of the Tonys in 2005. ABC will broadcast the Oscar ceremony live from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on Feb. 22"

If there was a category for "Best Naked Torso in a Supporting Role" he's got it nailed down.

Katie77:
It is absollutely fantastic that Hugh has been chosen to host the Oscars.

There is not doubt in my mind that it will be entertainment Plus, as well as good humour and CLASS CLASS CLASS....

As an Australian I am very very proud of him....he is a wonderful ambassador for our country and for the entertainment industry.

louisev:
