So, I figure, great! I have 4/5 letters. Should be easy to find a word:

Ugh, wrong guess. The dreaded yellow squares again. So, now I know where four of the letters HAVE to be---PURXE. I figure it can't be PURSE, cuz the S was eliminated in round 2. So, I decide on PUREE, cuz NYT likes to use letters twice to mess you up. Plus, they had SAUTE, another French word recently.
