OK, everyone talked me into it and I went and saw it.
Verdict? It was OK. Love Craig, he plays thuggish quite well and cleans up nicely.
IMO, it was overlong and could have ended 20 minutes before it did. His interaction with women could have been done away with, everyone knows how they end up (I believe I can say that without giving anything away). Don't know about everyone else, but we saw the last twist coming.
1. The stunt work, especially in the construction site scene, is amazing.
One of the over-the-top scenes that harken to the current James Bond image. Who the heck was James Bond chasing? Some ex-Navy Seal or Airborne Ranger? The guy was utterly fearless, invincible and never broke his stride.
2. Daniel Craig's smokin' hot body and the kind of blue eyes you can see across a room
Lovely. A friend of mine however, said he was too short to be a James Bond. I thought the guy was tall. He seemed tall to me in both Casino and Lara Croft. Angelina Jolie is not a short woman and he towered over her in Lara Croft. Is it just special effects?
3. It seems to take the Bond franchise in a darker, more vigilante (I likey) direction.
Very much more realistic, well, except for roof top chases, holding his breath longer than the late Jacques Cousteau and what kind of upscale car does not have airbags?!?!?!?
4. A little matter of a trailer from a certain movie being released this March. (i.e., Jakey on the big screen again, and not one moment too soon - by the way, everyone in the packed theater chuckled at "Eagle Scout. First Class." And everyone around me murmured "That looks good" when it was over. I'm a tad biased, so it's hard for me to judge.)
Everyone in my group gave a thumbs up to going to see it. I'm not sure what kind of character Jake is playing but his little boy voice was very endearing. My protective instincts reared up.
EDITED TO ADD: OK the tuxedo scene was a gem.
