SPOILERS
I've said this before, but - Holy Crap, Louise!
“Shit, fuck, damn!” Wes said. That about sums it up, Wes.
I had a feeling we'd be seeing Bunny again in this story when Esteban mentioned her a few chapters back - but I didn't see this coming. Ellery drives a Cadillac too, now, doesn't he? Scared me for a second there until Chas saw that it was a woman in the car. And we don't yet know who the "code blue" is . . .. but poor Mel.
Yay for Chas! This has been a bad day for him all around, but he's demonstrated a core of inner strength and an admirable code of honor!
Stating the obvious, I know, but I love this story, Louise! :)
Thanks,
Marie
P.S. Curious as to what specifically Colson wants to tell Wes about Ellery . . . .

Unfortunately, university won't let me be here as much as I would like to. :(
I usually just skim the chapters when they are posted, because I'm so curious, but then have to wait for the weekend to really read them. That's also why I hardly ever comment. I feel like it's not very sensible to comment on chapters that have already been posted days ago.
I'm still very much enjoying the story though. :)
SPOILERISH
I just loved when Nick brought Jeremy dinner to the station and Murdoch's reaction to the whole scene (and I was happy to hear Nick seems to be doing well at school). Then Sanchez with the "Dupree's wife cooks just as good as Ellery's does" line, cute Lauren and Wayne ... being Wayne.
I'm also getting to like Jeeves a little better (I wasn't much of a fan so far), he really seems to be decent person and I think Lance might be happy to know him. Jerry on the other hand turned out to be a complete idiot, which is a pity, I was hoping Jeeves might finally have found somebody to be with.
What has me wondering is why Sergio actually hadn't missed Lance? I thought Lance broke up with Jeeves to go back to Sergio and now it's Jeeves who noticed Lance is missing while Sergio hadn't got a clue? Did I miss a chapter? Did Lance never get to go back to Sergio? Or is there something else to this? ???
Oh, and I'm curious to find out the reason for Sergio's improved English.
Other than that, I'm worrying a lot in this story. Worried about Lance of course, then Ellery and now the accidents... Poor Mel is never getting a rest with Bunny. First her alcohol problem and now already the second "accident" in a rather short time. Also very intrigued about the dead person on County Road, but not too worried since you couldn't just kill Ellery off. ;)
Well, this has to be enough for now, keep up the good work,
thanks! :)

SPOILER
Wow. This is turning out to be A Night to Remember for the Greenlea County Sheriff's Department - and the rest of Greenlea County, too.
Every time we peel back a layer on this story we find . . . another layer. Masterfully done, Louise.
Thanks,
Marie
P.S. 'Ellery flashed a sudden grin, distracted. “You are gonna cuff me to the bed?”' ;D ;D

I am glad you all seem to be enjoying the story. As you can see, I am focusing the direction of the tale, and this is more than anything, Chas's story, but it doesn't have a lot of weight if he is taken out of context, because the events in 'The Chesterfield Fortune' will be the story that integrates him into the life of Tourmaline as a whole. It also will keep alive the other plot tendrils that have not yet emerged or developed, some regarding Jeremy, and he and Nick's future together, as well as ties back to Ellery's past with Esteban - if you recall on my Stories To Write list is a story about Ellery and Esteban and one of their hard cases early in Ellery's career. "What I Did On my Winter Vacation" was a flashback that gives a taste of just what kind of 'ornery sumbitch' Ellery was back when he was a diamond in the rough, but is by no means the end of the look back at the early life of our hero.
So there are several purposes served by the Chesterfield Fortune, including the introduction of a new character I invented last night from an inspiration I got from Maria's daughter.
Yes folks, offer me a home between jobs and you too can get an original character added to the Tales of Greenlea County!
