Who do think you have been in previous lives?

Question - when you dream, HOW do you know it's a dream about your past lives? ??? ??? I dream loads, but I've never tried to figure out, whether those dreams where somehow connected with the past..
And where do you find a psychic in your neighborhood anyway?! ..

In response to your questions, Jude:
1. I was told about my previous incarnations by a Past Lives Regression (PLR) therapist.
2. I know little about dreams. I rarely remember my own dreams.
3. I was seeing a psychologist, following the break-up with my partner, and she referred me to a PLR therapist. To find a PLR therapist in your local area, visit any New Age store or alternative gift/book store that sells crystals, incense, occult books etc. Check the community notice board in the store. Alternatively, purchase a New Age magazine at your local newsagent and check the listings at the back. You could also consult the Internet for a PLR therapist in your area. Another excellent source of information is the Theosophical Society - check either on line or in your local phone book for the address of one of their bookstores nearest to you. Their bookstores are called Adyar Bookshop here in Australia - you could try doing a search for that (not sure what they're called in your part of the world - might be the same?).

Thank you for your answers Kerry! Does a PLR therapy only search for past lives then? Or will it dig into my childhood and youth and stuff? Just asking.. It all sounds a bit scary really.
It seems though that people here on this thread seem to know about who they were without PLR therapy. How? I mean, I wouldn't be suprised if I'm told I have been a man in past lives (but will not most people be one of both sexes and also the other at some point in their past lives? Oh, I talk as if I'm actually believing it.. Don't know if I do.. Difficult..), but I have no clue whatsover, really. Totally clueless.

Kerry, I might actually know a place here in Brussels, where I could fine one of these shops.. Not sure though.

I don't even know what a New Age magazine is, but I could consult the Internet, of course.
Theosophical Society and Adyar Bookshops are foreign to me too, but I will do a little search.

For what it's worth, Jude, I have dreams with all kinds of people in them, known and unknown, all the time, and I almost always remember them vividly because I'm a very light sleeper so I tend to wake up right after them when they're fresh in my mind. I've actually dreamed that I've died a couple of times - once by falling off a ledge, and once by plane crash. My husband was in both dreams and died with me in both. In both cases, we walked away from our bodies/the airplane lying there, and I said to him, "Are we dead?" and then woke up. I've always thought these were anxiety dreams about worrying that our marriage was dying. But one friend thinks they're past-lives dreams. I dunno. I have to say that like everything else, I can't believe in it without some kind of proof. Just not a very faithful person in that sense. And I haven't seen real proof yet. Then again, I haven't seen real proof to the contrary, either, so I'll withhold final judgment.
As far as the dreams I have with dozens of people in them who I don't believe I know, my thinking on this is that these are all the people I see every day on the periphery - my subconscious registers them, but not my conscious mind. So at night, my subconscious does a "core dump" to clear out those memory cells and releases all those people into my dreams.
If I did believe 100% in past lives, I'd believe that my mother and I have been soulmates (platonically, of course) through the ages. And that I've been a gay man at least once. I just understand (or think I do, at least) way too much intuitively about what it is to be a man, and what it is to be a man who loves other men, than a woman by all rights should. I always have - since *way* before Brokeback (but it's probably one of the reasons why these characters break my heart so much). I would also believe that I've lived in England - maybe even many times over. I've been an Anglophile for as long as I can remember, but I didn't see England for the first time until I was 30. I've since been back there twice because each time I go, I believe I am home. I've only felt a natural pull to a place one other time in my life, and that was when I went to Rhode Island for a wedding once about 15 years ago. I felt that pull while driving through a small town between Providence and the little seaside town in which our friends got married and could find no logical reason for it, since it was nothing, really, like anywhere I'd lived or been before.

I'm guessing that a PLR therapist probably specialises in only that field, Jude. If you want to look into your early childhood/youth in your present incarnation, there would be professionals who specialise exclusively in that field; psychologists, for instance. I was referred to the PLR therapist I saw, by a psychologist I was consulting at the time. I specifically wanted answers to one question, and one question only - Do I share any past-life history with my present partner? I am presuming that a PLR therapist could be as specific or general as appropriate, to your requirements. It's a fascinating topic.

One of the most difficult things for me to accept about reincarnation, Barb, is that people such as one’s parents in this life, may have been something altogether different in a past life. For example, even though I feel certain I’ve shared many incarnations with my parents, I’ve had to accept that I may have had all kinds of relationships with them in the past. And not all of those associations would have been platonic – disconcerting as that may be to accept lol.
