Victoria Day is celebrated on May 24th or the first Monday before May 24th, in observance of the birthday anniversary of Queen Victoria and in honor of the present sovereign (of Canada, of those parts of Scotland that observe the day, and the Cayman Islands). Princess Alexandrina Victoria of Great Britain and Ireland, who in the fullness of time would come to the throne as Britain's longest-reigning monarch, was born on May 24, 1819, in Kensington Palace, London.
