RECAP and REVIEW
« Reply #126 on: June 12, 2007, 06:41:15 am »
Time for a Recap!

Okay (with a couple of very slight “clean ups”) here’s this last round:

A is Army for which Jack was too busted up.
B is for Bravery that bull-ridin' Jack mustered up
C is for Children--in Brokeback there are three
D is for Deuces the term used by Aguirre.
E is for Effin' as in Jack Effin' Twist
F is for Fishing trips - another name for tryst.
G is for Grandparents, L.D. and Fayette.
H is for Haggling over the TV set
I is Insertion, in Tent Scene One.
J is Jilted - girls don't fall in love with fun.
K is for the kerfuffle at the Black 'n Blue
L is for Lureen, who had a midnight curfew.
M is the Marriage, about to dissolve.
N is for Nothing the fight did resolve.
O is for Ovine, relating to sheep.
P is for Phantoms that come in our sleep
Q is for "Quit you!", Jack wished (though he didn't).
R for regrets that arise all unbidden
S is for Starved, what Jack nearly did one year.
T is Jack's Truck which did slip a gear.
U is poor Ennis Upchucking in the alley
V is the Value of sheep in the valley
W is Water where Jack washed the shirt
X is an eXchange of words meant to hurt
Y is a Yipping aussie blue herder.
Z are the Zealots that plotted Jack’s murder.

Rule Review:

Write the rhyme in present tense ("A is ...")

This is an "ABCdarium" constructed in ominous rhymed couplets.  The letters X and Z are particularly challenging in this format and are allowed a "cheat."  The cheated word must contain the letter, the sound of the letter must be a major feature in how the word is pronounced, and it must be capitalized within the word.  ("X is eXchange...")

"Half-rhymes" are acceptable ( fence / sent)

Key words use in other cycles can be used again, but the couplet made with it must be different.

To keep us better on track note the following:

A rhymes with B
C rhymes with D
E rhymes with F
G rhymes with H
I rhymes with J
K rhymes with L
M rhymes with N
O rhymes with P
Q rhymes with R
S rhymes with T
U rhymes with V
W rhymes with X
Y rhymes with Z

26 letter of the alphabet = 13 pairs of couplets
