I'm b-a-a-a-c-k!

Surrounded by piles of damp clothes--it was a very humid and at times downright stormy week. I'll be all week catching up just on laundry, let alone what's been going on around here in my absence. But it was a good vacation.

And it felt good to get back into cowboy boots to go out for dinner this evening.  ;D

REALLY! I'm so jealous!

What is this battle thing all about? They didn't shoot you, did they Jeff?

What is this, some sort of Dungeons and Dragons deal? Tell us all about it!  :D

Hey, thanks everyone. It's good to be home.

On the other hand, I'm away for a week, all hell breaks loose at work, I'm surrounded at home by the detritus of the trip, and I'm spinning like a dervish trying to figure out where to start/what to do next.

I don't do any of the fighting. I don't know how anyone survives 90+F temperatures and Pennsylvania humidity in armor. When it wasn't hot and sunny it was hot and rainy. I mostly stayed in camp, relaxed, and read. Saw some good theatrical productions while I was there.

The squires interest me more than the knights. ...  ;)

Spectators stay on the edge of the battlefield so they don't get hurt. They can take photos, but since I didn't go to watch any of the fighting. It's amazing how loud it is when a couple of hundred guys with rattan swords beat on wooden or steel shields all at once. You can hear it back in camp.

Best way to learn about it is at the society web site: http://www.sca.org. It hasn't got anything to do with "Dungeons and Dragons."

Now, I gotta focus, focus, focus. ...
