My son is a firefighter, but his real passion is writing music and performing with his band, Within...in a past thread I told all of you about my friend "J" who passed away last Aug of Aids...my son was his brother inlaw. They were very close, J changed my sons life just like he did everybody he met, at least those of us ready to hear his message. He was a picture of contradiction..he lived his life in an unbelievealbe way, savored it and found great happiness, but underlying that was an addiction that he fought till the end. Sometimes succeding in a miraculous way, and others, spiriling down, unable to stop. We all miss him so very much. Here is the song my son PJ wrote for him. He sang it at his funeral..just him and his guitar...you can hear the full band version by going to:
http://www.bodogbattleofthebands.com/bandsandmusic/profile.php?band_id=21860will be able to listen to the track (if you like it, please register and vote for him!!)
the description of the song on the webpage is:
"Story of the final moments"
here are the words:
Peace
Mother, don't you cry
Cause I am sleeping
Daddy, I say goodbye
And I hear you weeping
I can't fight these demons
And I just want to die
I heard you pray for peace
And I can see the light
Brother, oh I miss you
But I know you'll be alright
Sister, how can I tell you
That you filled up my life
And I can't fight these demons
It tears me up inside
Daddy, you prayed for peace
And I can see the light
Oh, i"m coming home
i'm so glad I made it
Into your loving arms
And I feel better, made it
I just can't fight this sickness
It tears me up inside
Daddy you prayed for peace,
And I found Peace tonight
Oh, I found Peace
Family, you're my inspiration
But I have grown so tired
Oh, God, I'm here, Please take me
And I fade into the light
Oh, yes I found Peace.....
Thanks once again for listening..i had to share this...you never know when it will touch someone at just the right moment.
