Guess what everybody?? I am going to the Crosby Stills Nash and Young Concert at Red Rocks in Colorado on July 20!! Anybody else seeing them? I'm so excited! It's a birthday present from my hubby.

Also, the new video "Heart of Gold" of Neil Young is out now and he's going to be on NPR's Fresh Air today.

Two of my favorite musicians have paired up, Mark Knopfler who was the mastermind behind Dire Straits and Emmylou Harris, the legendary woman who sang "A Love that will Never Grow Old." Their new album together is called All the Roadrunning and U can read an NPR story about it here:

I saw Knopfler at Red Rocks last summer on my birthday, and I still dream about that concert!

All the Roadrunning (see above0 is even better than I'd hoped! Here is a song I'm listening to now that I hope a certain person will hear and think of me, as I'm thinking of them.

Red Staggerwing

if I was a fender guitar
a fender painted red
you could play me darlin
until your fingers bled
of I was one of them gibsons
like a '58 or a '59
you could plug me in
and play me any time
you're gonna need a rider anyhow
let me be your rider now

Here is another song from the same CD that reminds me of BBM:

Rollin On

been kicking sawdust
in these clothes
for a blue moon
and a red rose
the boys'll put em up
and tear 'em down
we'll wash away
the dirt
just a glass a day
ain't gonna hurt
pretty soon we'll move on
out of town.

we pass them by
across the plains
we don't even try
to catch the names
it's supper time and their kids
are home from school
they draw the shades
on their shops
while we go a'checking
through the props
and putting on the paint
to play the fool

then we're rollin on
rollin on
feeling better
than we did last night
rolling on, rollin on
it's hard sometimes
pretty much it's alright

I'll go soft shoe
when it rains
I'll go shuffle through
the aches and pains
mr. young at heart
that's what I try to be
they all laugh
and cry
they get to feeling better
and that is why
if it was good for you
truly it was good for me

then we're rollin on
rollin on
feeling better
than we did last night
rollin on, rollin on
it's hard sometimes
pretty much it's alright.

If you have a yen to hear some great instrumental music, I have a reccamendation for you. It's Screenplaying, a collection of movie scores by Mark Knopfler (sigh...yes, him again!) The movies are Cal, Last Exit to Brooklyn (both of which I've never heard of), The Princess Bride, and Local Hero. The music is incredible and you can work to it real easy.

Tonite's CSN&Y night at the beautiful Red Rocks Amphitheater, which is practically a stone's throw from my house (well, a stone thrown by a Titan anyway). I have my new hillbilly cowboy hat ready and will take pics; especially hoping to get one of Neil Young!! Watch this space!!

Just to set the scene, here was the view from our seats as the concert was starting. The lineup is Graham Nash, Steven Stills, Neil Young (partially obscured by guy suddenly standing up), and David Crosby.

So here's my progeny with me at my big birthday event--seeing Crosby Stills Nash & Young at the outdoor Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado.

What a beautiful place...and what an atmosphere to watch the band...thanks for the pics....

and Front Ranger, I, too am a Mark Knopfler fan, and the theme song from Local Hero is one of my favourite tunes....the build up of the guitars is fantastic....in the beginning I feel sad, but as it gets faster, I feel happier....It is the best....
Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.

It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfection
