I couldn't find a picture of real hamburger toast, so I am just posting a generic hamburger picture. However, there is a hamburger toast story!
Hamburger toast is one of the first things I ever learned to cook. I was probably about 7 or 8 at the time. The recipe was in a "Highlights" magazine. Remember Highlights--that magazine you read at the dentist? I haven't made this is years but I remember how to, exactly.
Hamburger ToastTo serve one.
Take one slice of white bread. Toast it under the broiler on one side only.
Take some hamburger and flatten it into a very thin square, the size of the bread. Place on top of the bread (on the untoasted side). Crimp around the edges. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and dot with butter. Place under the broiler and broil til done. Enjoy!
