I think it is just fine that we can hear songs in all kinds of genres which remind us of Brokeback Mountain.

I can think of two country songs that might have reminded the men of Brokeback Mountain.

One would have been known by Jack Twist before 1983 which was "I Want To Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart." Patsy Montana was one of the first one's to sing it. I heard the song sung by Kathy Robertson a lot of times with her band, "5 Easy Pieces," a the Rawhide on Sunday afternoons.

And for Ennis Del Mar, Randy Travis' "Forever and Ever, Amen, would remind him that Jack's being in love with him was definitely forever, amen!

I heard Randy Travis sing that song at a concert in the San Fernando Valley before it was made known to the rest of the world that he had recorded it. I heard in on Sunday afternoon and he sang it live on TV the next night at the Academy of Country Music TV show.
