Atreyu is a charater from The Neverending Story. Yes, he is Native American Shasta. His parents were killed by the Purple Buffalo and he was summoned by the Childlike Empress to save the kingdom of Fantastica (Fantasia in the movie) along with the help of a young boy named Bastian.

Jack, Chicago is about 200 miles north of me, so yes, it is farily close to Indianapolis.
