Wow, okay, I was crying after this one. It was just a really good feeling, happy ending.... Arggh, just read it yourself.

“AS THE WORLD TURNS”

TELEPLAY

<FADE IN>

SCENE: GIUSEPPE'S ITALIAN RESTAURANT

HOLDEN, LUKE, AND NOAH ARE ENJOYING THEIR DINNER.

NOAH:
Luke, your dad is totally cool with us!
I mean, that's amazing.

LUKE:
Well, I've always thought he
was a pretty cool guy.
But yeah, he's eased up a lot.

HOLDEN:
That reminds me.

HOLDEN PICKS UP HIS GLASS OF WINE.

HOLDEN (CONT'D):
Happy new year, Luke, Noah.
May the rest of your days together
be filled with happiness and -

MARGO SUDDENLY STEPS UP TO THE TABLE:
You might want to hold that thought, Holden.

HOLDEN:
Margo. Something wrong?

MARGO NODS SADLY:
Yes, something is very wrong.
But it's not here.
It's Lily.
She's gone insane.
And there's not a thing I
can legally do about it.

<FADE OUT>

<OPENING TITLES>

<COMMERCIAL>

<FADE IN>

HOLDEN, NOAH, AND LUKE LOOK UP AT MARGO,
COMPLETELY CONFUSED.

HOLDEN:
I don't -

MARGO:
Noah Meyer,
it is my unfortunate duty to inform you
that you're under arrest pending
investigation into allegations of
harassment against the person of
Luke Snyder.

LUKE AND NOAH ARE SHOCKED.

NOAH:
Harassment? I didn't do anyth-

MARGO CONTINUES.
You have the right to remain silent,
which I urge you not to take,
since as many people need to hear
about this insanity as possible.
Do you have an attorney?

NOAH:
I- I don't know anybod-

HOLDEN:
He has one. What's
all this about, Margo?

MARGO:
How should I know?
Lily just came barging into the station
demanding a restraining order.

LUKE:
A restraining order?
That keeps Noah away from me?!

HOLDEN:
Oh god, Lily. What have you done now?

<FADE OUT>

<COMMERCIAL>

<FADE IN>

HOLDEN:
Is there anything we can do, Margo?

MARGO SHAKES HER HEAD SADLY:
As long as you and Lily have joint custody of Luke,
either one of you is fully legally responsible for him.

HOLDEN:
Then I want to drop the charges.

MARGO:
Not that simple, Holden.
It goes to court.

NOAH:
I don't have to be handcuffed, do I?

MARGO:
I think we can avoid the
traditional prisoner treatment.
We'll even wait until you've
finished eating.

NOAH LOOKS AT HIS PLATE:
I've, uh, pretty much lost my appetite.

MARGO:
Can't say that I blame you.
Ready to go?

NOAH TURNS TO HOLDEN:
I can leave my truck at your place, Mr. Snyder?
Until this gets sorted out.

HOLDEN NODS.

LUKE STARES MUTELY AS NOAH LEAVES WITH MARGO.
HE'S STILL IN SHOCK.

MARGO ESCORTS NOAH TO TWO OTHER PLAIN CLOTHES OFFICERS:
Treat this one right;
he's got a tough ride ahead of him,
and I know for a fact he's innocent.

MARGO RETURNS TO THE TABLE.

MARGO:
Holden, get the divorce over with
and get sole custody of Luke.

HOLDEN LOOKS DOWN STERNLY AND NODS:
Doesn't the court usually side with the mother
on sole custody?

MARGO:
They can try.
You've got at least one good cop on your side,
job or no job. And I'll bring half
the department with me.

<FADE OUT>

<COMMERCIAL>

<FADE IN>

LUKE AND HOLDEN ARE STILL SITTING AT THE TABLE.
HOLDEN IS STARING DOWN, THINKING HARD ABOUT
SOMETHING, A STERN EXPRESSION ON HIS FACE.
LUKE IS IN ABJECT MISERY, LOOKS ILL,
AND IS STRUGGLING TO KEEP FROM BREAKING
DOWN IN TEARS.

LUKE:
Dad, can we go?
I really don't wanna be here right now.

HOLDEN LOOKS UP, AS THOUGH SEEING LUKE FOR THE FIRST TIME:
Yeah. Let's go.

<TRANSITION>

SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE

LUKE AND HOLDEN WALK IN. HOLDEN IS ON HIS CELLPHONE.

LUKE:
I'll be up in my room.

HOLDEN NODS:
Okay... Bonnie!

PAUSE

HOLDEN (CONT'D):
Well everything's not so good here.
I have a favor to ask you.
Do you know any really good
defense lawyers?

PAUSE

HOLDEN (CONT'D):
No its for Noah.
Lily did something stupid
and filed a restraining order
to keep him away from Luke.
I can't understand that woman.

PAUSE

HOLDEN:
You're right.
She hasn't been the same
since New Year's Eve.

PAUSE

HOLDEN:
Well.
I have some money set aside
for emergencies. How much are
we talking about?

HOLDEN PAUSES AND WHISTLES:
That much?
I can barely afford half of it.
Well, thanks Bonnie.
Let me know if you come up with anything more.

<TRANSITION>

SCENE: LUKE'S BEDROOM AT THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE

LUKE IS LYING IN BED, CLUTCHING A PILLOW TO HIS CHEST.
HE'S STILL IN MISERY BUT SLOWLY
BECOMING ANGRY. LUKE SUDDENLY JERKS UP.

LUKE:
Oh god. I left him alone.
He needed me and I let him go alone....

LUKE JUMPS UP.

<FADE OUT>

<COMMERCIAL>

<FADE IN>

SCENE: THE OAKDALE POLICE STATION

LILY HAS PICKED UP HER PURSE AND THE
PAPERS SHE NEEDS TO HAVE SIGNED AND SEALED.
SHE STARTS TOWARDS THE DOOR JUST
AS MARGO IS BRINGING NOAH IN.

NOAH SEES LILY:
Mrs. Snyder!
Please, tell me what's going on.
I didn't harass Luke!

MARGO PAUSES TO SEE IF LILY WILL RESPOND.

LILY (COLDLY):
I don't want you anywhere near him.

NOAH (CONFUSED AND ANGRY):
But why?

LILY MOVES PAST NOAH AND HEADS
TOWARDS THE DOOR.

NOAH (CONT'D):
Please, Mrs. Snyder.
You've done so much for me.
You helped me to see... to see
who I really was.
You and Luke and Holden showed
me what a real family is like.
You helped me see that
Luke still cared for me
after.. what my father did.

LILY PAUSES TO LISTEN TO NOAH.

NOAH (CONT'D)
If you can just
tell me what I did wrong,
I'll try to fix it.

LILY (SERIOUS):
You can tell me why you were planning
on leaving Luke and never told him,
or any of us. Is it because we mean so
little to you? Because Luke
is such a hateful reminder of what
your father did to you and your mother?

NOAH (APPALLED):
No!
Lily, I'm not planning on leaving.
I was thinking about going to Northwestern.
But I've changed my mind. I decided
that I'd rather be here with Luke.

NOAH PAUSES:
And I respect you and Mr. Snyder as
though you were my own family.
Although I admit I broke some of the
rules.. but Mrs. Snyder, you've
been more like a Mom to me than anyone
else I've known in my whole life.

LILY GASPS.

NOAH (CONT'D):
Luke's been the kindest, most sincere person
in my life. And I look up to him as a
reminder of what good and decent people are like.
Luke loves me, for being me.
And I'm not even sure why.
But as long as I'm alive and have the strength
to do so, I'm going to take care of him.
Mrs. Snyder, I love Luke.
It took me this long to say it
because I wasn't sure I could.
I love Luke.
I'm not going anywhere.
I never was.

LILY IS CRYING NOW, AND RUNS
OVER TO NOAH AND EMBRACES HIM.

LILY:
Oh god, I'm so sorry Noah.
I don't... I don't know
what came over me.

MARGO BREATHES A SIGH OF RELIEF:
Can we drop the charges now, Lily?

LILY THRUSTS THE PAPERS AT MARGO:
Yes, yes! Drop the charges!

LILY AND NOAH EMBRACE AGAIN.
NOAH IS NEAR TEARS.

LILY:
Noah? It's alright, hon.
It's gonna be okay.

NOAH BURSTS INTO TEARS:
Oh god! I never....
She's dead.

LILY SIGHS AND HOLDS NOAH TIGHTER:
Yes, your mother's dead.

NOAH:
I don't even remember her.
I saw her once,
and didn't even know who she was.

LILY:
Shhh, Noah.
It's okay.

LILY HOLDS NOAH AND RUBS HIS BACK AS HE'S SOBBING
AGAINST HER SHOULDER.

LUKE RUSHES INTO THE POLICE STATION.

LUKE:
Is Noah -

LILY TURNS AROUND, STILL CRADLING NOAH AGAINST HER.

<FADE OUT>

<COMMERCIAL>

<FADE IN>

LUKE:
Mom?

MARGO:
I think Noah and your mom are having a bonding moment.

LUKE:
So everything's okay.

MARGO:
Better than okay.

MARGO RIPS UP THE RESTRAINING ORDER AND THE CHARGES.

NOAH FINALLY STOPS CRYING.
HE BACKS AWAY FROM LILY A BIT.

LUKE WALKS UP TO NOAH.

LUKE:
Are you okay?

NOAH:
Yeah, I just never... never...

LILY:
Never knew a mother's love?

NOAH NODS:
Something like that.

LILY WIPES A TEAR AWAY FROM HER EYES:
I can't imagine what it would
have been like to grow up without my mother.
It would have been... hellish.

NOAH:
I'm just now beginning to realize what
all I missed out on.

LILY:
Oh Noah. Stick around, kid.
You ain't seen nothing yet.

NOAH CHUCKLES AND LILY LAUGHS LIGHTLY.

LILY:
Okay, the weekend's on me.
I'm breaking out the key to the presidential suite
and we're going to have a little vacation.
Just the three of us!
Room service everyday!

LILY REACHES OUT AND HUGS LUKE AND NOAH.

<FADE OUT>

<COMMERCIAL>

<FADE IN>

SCENE: THE OAKDALE POLICE STATION

HOLDEN ENTERS.

MARGO COMES UP TO HIM SMILING.

MARGO:
The charges have been dropped, Holden.
Apparently there was a misunderstanding
that's been cleared up now.

HOLDEN SIGHS IN RELIEF:
Thanks for that, Margo.
Any sign what started the whole thing?

MARGO:
She was suspicious of Noah about something.

LILY, LUKE AND NOAH WALK OVER.

NOAH:
She'd heard I was going to Northwestern.
But that was before I changed my mind.

LUKE:
You changed your mind, Noah?

NOAH NODS:
Yeah, I'd rather be here with you.
And its not like Northwestern's going anywhere.
It'll still be there the next semester.

LUKE SMILES:
Yeah, but...

NOAH:
Nope, no regrets Luke.

LUKE AND NOAH LOCK EYES FOR A BRIEF MOMENT,
BOTH SMILING AND GENUINELY HAPPY.

I've heard some rumors that Lily is going to do it in reality on the show... so I'll wait a bit and see if she does.

Also, some very nice things are wondering through the grapevine (from official sources) about next week's episodes.

Sigh, I wish your

I am sorry!! I am not as articulate as you are!!

I was relieved you wrapped it up quickly, I was happy that Luke went to the police station, I was worried about the lawyer costing so much...

just relief mostly...

Oh Jess. I wasn't criticizing your ok!, just wishing it had been more. :) Thank you for updating your emotional response. If I can keep a high emotion going through the whole thing I know I'm doing it right.

Okay, this is probably the last of Dusty, Jess... Not this episode, but this arc. He's supposed to be leaving the show this month anyway. So might as well have him go out with a bang.

“AS THE WORLD TURNS”

TELEPLAY

<FADE IN>

SCENE: A STATE PRISON VISITOR'S ROOM.

A PRISON GUARD IS BEHIND A BARRED AREA, WITH A SMALL WINDOW
OVER A DESK. A NUMBER OF INMATES ARE SITTING AT TABLES WITH VISITING
FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

DUSTY ENTERS AND CHECKS IN WITH THE GUARD, SIGNING A CLIPBOARD.

WINSTON IS LED IN FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION BY TWO GUARDS,
WHO POINT AT DUSTY AND EXIT, LEAVING WINSTON.

WINSTON MOVES CAUTIOUSLY TO ONE OF THE TABLES AND DUSTY
JOINS HIM THERE. WINSTON LOOKS AROUND TO MAKE SURE
NOBODY'S EAVESDROPPING.

WINSTON:
What do you want?

DUSTY:
Colonel Meyer, so nice to see you again.
I hear you still want Noah away from Luke.

WINSTON (THROUGH GRITTED TEETH):
Yes, I do!

DUSTY LOOKS AWAY, AS THOUGH BORED:
I think I can accommodate you.
But I'll need money.

WINSTON LOOKS AROUND AND LOWERS HIS VOICE:
Money I can get you, but how
do I know I can trust you?

DUSTY:
You don't. But let's say
we have the same goals.
You want Noah away from Luke.
And I want Luke away from Noah.

WINSTON DOESN'T BELIEVE DUSTY:
Why?

DUSTY:
Let's just say I need a distraction in
the Snyder family until I can get what
I want.

WINSTON:
Alright. How much do you need?
A thousand?

DUSTY SMILES:
Let's start with five.

<FADE IN>

SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE.

HOLDEN IS HAVING BREAKFAST WITH FAITH AND NATALIE
AS EMMA CARRIES ETHAN TO THE TABLE.

THE SCREEN DOOR OPENS AND LILY, LUKE, AND NOAH ENTER.

HOLDEN:
Hey! How was the getaway.

NOAH:
It was great, Mr. Snyder!
It felt so good not to have to worry
about anything for a while.
Just really focus on the things that are important.

NOAH LOOKS BACK AT LUKE AT THE LAST PART, WITH
A HEARTBREAKING SMILE. LUKE SMILES BACK.

LILY SIGHS HUMOROUSLY:
There they go again!
Holden, how do you put up with these two?
They're always gazing at each other.

HOLDEN LAUGHS. FAITH IS OBVIOUSLY UPSET.

LUKE AND NOAH GO OVER TO THE TABLE.

LUKE:
Hey, we're not too late for breakfast!

LILY:
Luke, you ate before we left the Lakeview.

NOAH TURNS TO LILY:
Yeah, but that wasn't his grandmother's cooking.

LILY LAUGHS AND SHAKES HER HEAD.

EMMA SMILES:
Alright. Enough sweet-talking from you, young man.
You're going to get yourself in trouble with it one
of these days.

NOAH SMILES AND SHRUGS:
Probably.

LUKE:
So, Grandma, anything left for me?

FAITH GETS UP AND LEAVES THE TABLE:
I'm not hungry anymore, Grandma. Thanks.

FAITH EXITS TO THE STAIRWELL.

NATALIE LOOKS AFTER FAITH, WORRIED,
THEN TURNS TO NOAH:

NATALIE:
Come and eat something, Noah!
Granma always makes too much.
You can sit by me!

NOAH:
I am a little hungry still, actually.

NOAH SITS DOWN NEXT TO NATALIE AS EMMA GRABS ANOTHER
PLATE FOR HIM.

LUKE IS WORRIED ABOUT FAITH.
HE TURNS TO HOLDEN.

LUKE:
Dad, something wrong with Faith?
She seems... angry about something.

HOLDEN LOOKS AT LUKE THEN STARES
AT THE DOOR TO THE STAIRWELL.

<FADE IN>

HOLDEN LOOKS UP AT LUKE:
I'm not sure, Luke.
After breakfast why don't you ask her.
You know she's always had a
special connection with you.

LILY SMILES AT EVERYONE AS
SHE WALKS OVER TO THE TABLE.

LILY:
Natalie and Ethan!
It's good to see everyone again.
And I'll see you all tonight.

NOAH LOOKS UP:
You're leaving, Mrs. Snyder?

LILY LAUGHS LIGHTLY:
Oh yes, a hotelier's work is never done.
Have to head back to the Lakeview.
And then up to the station for a meeting
later on this afternoon.
Did you like working at WOAK, Noah?

NOAH:
Yeah. Well I really liked the
creative projects. The collating and filing -
not so much.

LILY:
I was just thinking... if you're staying around,
there's no reason you can't get some experience
working at the studio. I think one of our programs
could use a director's assistant.

NOAH IS COMPLETELY SURPRISED:
Oh wow – are you serious, Mrs. Snyder?

LILY:
Well, since you're not going to Northwestern
this semester, I thought I could offer
you something.

NOAH:
That would be great, if I could.

LILY LAUGHS:
Okay, Noah. Let me talk to my people.
And they'll get in touch with your people.

NOAH CHUCKLES.

LUKE WATCHES THE WHOLE EXCHANGE, SHAKING HIS HEAD AND SMILING.

<FADE OUT>

<COMMERCIAL>

<FADE IN>

LUKE:
What has gotten into them?

HOLDEN:
Your mother's found a new person to take care of.

LUKE:
Are you serious? That's awesome.

HOLDEN NODS:
Well it keeps her happy.

LUKE:
Yeah since Dusty stood her up on New Years, she's been
having a hard time.

HOLDEN:
Hey did you ever talk to Noah about that thing
you were worried about? Dusty snooping around?

LILY AND NOAH WERE LAUGHING IN THE BACKGROUND AT SOMETHING
NOAH SAID.

LILY:
Oh Noah. That's wonderful!

LILY LOOKS AT HER WATCH:
Oh. I have to go people!

LILY HUGS NATALIE, NOAH, EMMA, AND KISSES ETHAN ON THE TOP OF THE HEAD. SHE MAKES HER WAY OVER TO WHERE LUKE AND HOLDEN ARE STANDING AND HUGS LUKE.

LILY:
Gotta go, sweetie. Love you.

LUKE:
I love you too, Mom.

HOLDEN LOOKS ON, SMILING.

LILY:
And I'll come and get the girls and Ethan tonight, okay?

HOLDEN:
Sure thing.

LILY EXITS THROUGH THE SCREEN DOOR.

NOAH STANDS UP, FONDLY RUFFLES NATALIE'S HAIR AND
WALKS OVER TO WHERE LUKE AND HOLDEN ARE STANDING.

NOAH:
Everything's okay?

LUKE NODS:
Yeah... but there's something I need to talk to you
about.

NOAH SIGHS:
Sounds serious. Okay.

LUKE NODS AGAIN:
It is serious.
Something's been on my mind for a while.
And I need to bring it up.
Is it alright if Dad hears it too?

HOLDEN:
Let's go out on the porch, Luke.
Its a little more private.

<TRANSITION>

SCENE: THE SIDEWALK SHOPS OF OAKDALE

DUSTY IS WALKING AROUND, THINKING.
ALMOST PACING.

LUCINDA WALKS BY, CARRYING PACKAGES.

LUCINDA:
Dusty! How have you been?

DUSTY:
Not too good, really.
Worrying about Lily.

LUCINDA:
Has something happened?

DUSTY:
Not really. She ran
to the police station the
other night.

LUCINDA:
I heard about that.
She had some misunderstanding about Noah.

DUSTY:
That's the thing.
I don't think it was
a misunderstanding.
I think she was right.

LUCINDA:
Oh Dusty. Don't be silly.
Noah has been the best thing to
happen to Luke in a long time.

DUSTY SIGHS:
Maybe you're right.
Maybe I'm just worrying too much.
It's just... I don't want to
see Luke or Noah get hurt.

LUCINDA (WORRIED):
What makes you think that Luke
or Noah will get hurt?

DUSTY:
Are you serious?
Look at the way Noah's father acted!

LUCINDA:
Yes, that was unfortunate.
Colonel Meyer – is evil too strong a word?

DUSTY:
There are other people
that feel the same way, though.
They could be out there,
plotting some kind of scheme
that'll hurt both or either
of them, or worse.

LUCINDA:
Do you know something, Dusty?
Has someone threatened Luke and Noah?

DUSTY SHAKES HIS HEAD:
It's just a feeling.

LUCINDA:
If you find something out,
take it to the police.
I'll tell Lily to be careful though.
I'm sure she'll be fine.

DUSTY:
Thank you, Mrs. Walsh.
I'll feel so much better knowing that
Lily's been warned.

LUCINDA (LIGHTLY):
Don't mention it.
Coffee?

DUSTY:
Sure.

DUSTY AND LUCINDA WALK OFF TOGETHER.

SCENE: THE SNYDER FARMHOUSE PORCH

LUKE AND NOAH ARE SITTING ON THE SOFA.
HOLDEN IS SITTING ACROSS FROM THEM.

NOAH IS WORRIED:
I hope I didn't do something to
hurt you, Luke. I never meant
anything like -

LUKE:
No! No, Noah. It's nothing like that.
I appreciate – that's too weak a word...
I love everything we've done.
You've been... beyond perfect.

HOLDEN CLEARS HIS THROAT.

LUKE:
Oh... but I just need to ask you something.
And I'm not trying to pry or anything,
but I keep getting a bad feeling.

NOAH IS CONCERNED:
About what?

LUKE:
Okay, I'm just gonna ask this.
Why are you always hanging out with Dusty Donovan?

NOAH SIGHS:
God, I thought I was the only one
getting a bad feeling around him.

HOLDEN:
What type of bad feeling do you guys get?

LUKE:
I know he's hiding something.
I just don't know why.

NOAH:
I've asked him the same thing.
He says he's my friend... and
I want to believe him. But it just
doesn't feel right.
I also have a feeling that he's
somehow responsible for... what
happened with your mom the other night.

LUKE:
What gives you that idea?

NOAH:
I'm not sure. I mean, she was never cold like
that before. Even when she was angry with
me, she was always so passionate.
It just felt like she had been turned off
to everything around her.

HOLDEN:
I got that feeling too.
You think Dusty's responsible for that?

NOAH NODS.

NOAH:
The other night... when I told her about
how I cared about you, Luke.
It was like ice melting. She just
completely lost that cold shell...

LUKE:
Then you lost your hardened one.

NOAH SMILES AT LUKE, REACHING OUT TO PUT
HIS ARM AROUND LUKE AND PULL HIM CLOSER.

NOAH:
Yeah.

I fear I may have ended that too weakly...  Most soap opera episodes end with an exclamation mark, not a period.

most is the operative word there. There has been a lot of drama so a chance to relax for a time will just make the next drama that more sharp? (that is the wrong word I know)

OK, I have to post the following news and I am not sure if this is the right thread for this:

Van is chosen as the #1 Actor of 2007, with Jon Hensley (Holden) #2 at Daytime Confidential.  I have to admit I know nothing about US media, I have no idea whether this is of significant value or not, but I am very happy for them, I love them both.

Quote
Van Hansis, ATWT (Luke Snyder)- what do you say abouthis amazing young man?  He can do it all- anger, vulnerability, weeping, physical pain and love. Why can’t all the soaps have ATWT’s cast director?

Jon Hensley, ATWT (Holden Snyder) – Yes, I know- 2 ATWT actors topping the list. Sue me.

Going back to the beginning of the year, his performance as a man who felt abandoned and felt guilty about it during his wife’s coma was outstanding. He is a staunch supporter of his gay son and can switch from angry to vulnerable on a dime. Watch for Hensley at Emmy time.
