My cat Midnight used to do that too.

1 time, I was in the bathroom with the door closed, and I dropped a roll of toilet paper.  as it rolled by, his paw came from under the door, and grabbed it.

Well, I pulled it away gently, and he reached further in, and I put my hand on top of his paw......he tried to pull away, and couldn't and started to growl and hiss.

Individually I might, depending on the personality of the cat in question. As a class of critters, however, I don't have much use for them. Who would want a pet that's standoffish and thinks it owns you?

At least I'm not as bad as my father. I haven't much use for cats, but my father hates them. ...  :(
