And another 66 degree morning!

We have 2 Japanese exchange students arriving this evening, for a 10 day visit. It will be an adventure for all of us, I am sure!

Wow, Leslie, that does sound like an adventure. Have you had exchange students before?

And brown bread. ...  ;D

Is brown bread a Maine thing?

Speaking of Maine, I thought a lot about you Leslie, while we were in Italy. Probably because my eldest daughter was running around wearing her favorite Maine t-shirt to protect her shoulders getting too much sun.  :)

I'd call it a New England thing. My office mate at work is from Massachusetts, and she loves brown bread.  :)

Yes, that is what I was going to say.

As for the exchange students:

We had a college student from France who stayed with us for a month back in 2001.

These two girls are from Portland's "sister city," -- Shinagawa (a suburb of Tokyo). They are 15 and 16 1/2. They have both been studying English--hopefully we can communicate! They'll be here for 10 days. I'll report on how it goes!

I had this every Saturday night as a kid, with hamburg and beans.  Apparently, the B&M stands for Burnham & Morrill Co.:

And here I was thinking that you were talking about bread, as in the thing you buy at the baker's. Like this

Turns out it's something from a can, a sixpack no less! WOW  :o

Served warm, with lots of butter, it's actually pretty good.  It's molasses that makes it so brown.

It is bread, though, very dark bread with lots of molasses in it. Yummy!  :D

My office mate likes it with cream cheese.

I don't think it's as dense as a pudding, and it's sort of molasses-sweet and salty.  It comes with or without raisins.
