« on: May 29, 2006, 06:18:49 pm »
***All New: From time to time, some excerpts from shows I like which amused or provoked me in some way.***
I have modified the format of this to provide a list of links and have purged some of the older comments, but I always appreciate knowing just how many buttons I have pushed.  :)  All files are in MP3 format except as noted otherwise (names in bold are new since the topic was last modified):

"Callin' people's house when they're tryin' to look at their stories..."

When I lived in Vicksburg, Misssissippi, one of the (many) ways I didn't fit in was I seemed to be one of the only people I knew of any age or ethinicity who didn't watch "Days of Our Lives."  And that's what people called it, "My story."  "My story's on, I'll call you back."

Tell you what, that's what my grandma always called it, too: "my story."

In her case it was "The Edge of Night." Now, that's goin' way back!

I love this thread.  I will puruse it fully when I am in the privacy of my own home!

Presenting... Kidder, Downey, & Heche ... trespassing detectives.  A particularly amusing TV Funhouse.  Margot Kidder actually voiced her own role in this one.  It's a large download, so be patient.  Video starts 12 seconds in.

Phillip -

I fear your calm and well-considered demeanor as Creator/Administrator of this site is betrayed by the humorous sensibilities exhibited here.  What if everyone starts reading this thread and knows how you REALLY get your phreak on?!?

Girl - you crazy.  Hope El Nino didn't mess too much with YOUR hair.

A new addition to the comedy clips lineup: Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.  Take a hand puppet, Don Rickles-style material, and an East European accent, and you've got Triumph.  He's been a staple of The Conan O'Brien Show for years.

The Star Wars clip is considered by many to be the funniest Triumph appearance ever.  Conan's staff even hired a Vulcan to crash the Star Wars tie-in promo party.

Triumph Visits Quebec literally caused an international incident, as outraged Quebec politicans and the Canadian Culture Minister attacked Triumph and Conan for this bit.  Conan was in Toronto to introduce the bit, and the delighted English-speaking Ontario audience reaction upset Quebec politicians.

When local NBC affiliates get in way over their head with promotional tie-ins, you get Triumph Does the Weather for Hawaii.  Cute hand puppet, an NBC show tie-in, and wouldn't it be cute to delight Hawaiian viewers to have Triumph do the weather?  They had no clue what they were in for.

Also, several new MAD-TV clips.

It's been awhile since I've updated this, so now is as good a time as any.  I've started a new category called Shows I Like with excerpts that amuse, provoke, or even anger, starting with Lionel, who sounds like Joe Pesci, who has finally reached the last straw with Dubya.

One more from the Lionel Show... his version of "lifestyle talk" where Lionel shares his views about Urban Starbucks, the prevalence of gay men on television for comedic effect, and the latest nonsense from right wing talk radio.
