Help!. I read something somewhere, got sidetracked and didn't write down where I saw it.  In a report or review of Dustin Hoffmans speech, as I recall, it was said he spoke of some of the excellence he felt should be recognized in some of our young actors, and at the end of his comments he is supposed to have looked directly at Heath Ledger, gave him a slight nod of his head and quietly mouthed the words, 'Mr. Ledger'.

Did anyone see this, or recall seeing it?  Have you seen this article in print?  Do you know if there is a video of it anywhere?  I'm still looking for it, and should I locate it I will update this post.  But meanwhile I'd sure appreciate any help I can get.  Thanks

I actually heard of this for the first time recently. I am not sure if it really happened or not, but someone on here should know.

What an enormous compliment that would be coming from someone like Dustin Hoffman.

I hope someone finds more info on this....

It's over in the Open Forum. In the "If Heath got a posthumpous Oscar, would that redeem the Academy?" thread.

Here are the links to three posts talking about it:

Does anybody remember what Dustin Hoffman said? I think he came on stage at some point after (all or some of) the acting awards were announced, and looked down at Heath, Jake, and Michelle, and said something like, "Don't be sad...you're young...there'll be other chances..."

What a wonderful thing for him to say.....and how sad, that now we know there wont be other chances for Heath.
