Could not a person scratch those lines on there and then drop it back in the water? Where did they find it? In the water? Or deep beneath the earth? If they found it in the water it could easily be a hoax. If they found it deep in the earth (as in a fossil) it is probably naturally occuring.

I don't know why an alien would want to scratch some lines in a rock. :-\

I'm guessing it's probably a hoax. :)

Fun game Jess!

they are small, often spherical to disc-shaped, objects, which have been collected by miners and rockhounds from 3.0 billion year old pyrophyllite deposits

I have some beautiful sea shells I found on the beach in Florida when I lived there. I found several of them. They are about an inch and a half long, and they have very intricate lines spiriling down them, of many pastel colors... pale blue, pink, mint green, yellow....

They look like they were handpainted by someone and then dropped on the beach. But some of my friends in Florida also have such shells. They are beautiful. But I've always wondered how those lines got on there. They look like they were painted on! It's really amazing looking. I'll take a picture of one and post it when I get a chance.

There are many oddities in nature we cannot explain or understand. :)

But....

You said miners have been finding these disk shaped rocks. I do believe in aliens, and I also believe they have visited us in the past. People always ask the question "why would they be so interested in us?" and my reply has always been "if we had the technology to travel to distant galaxies KNOWING there is life on a certain planet, wouldn't we also go there to investigate and learn?"

OF COURSE we would!

So since those rocks were found in mines, perhaps they were left here by some aliens as some sort of message to us we don't understand yet.

Now I'm confused! I don't know WHAT to think Jess!

Could it be an alien dropping?

I voted for naturally occurring rocks. Mother Nature is capable of producing weird and wonderful shapes.  :D

Alien droppings would have been my second choice!  :P    ;)
