Breakdown and other stories by Alexis
« on: August 06, 2006, 03:35:09 pm »
Hi there!

I'm relatively new to the board.  I was lured in by the Ennis and Ellery discussion and I hope to be posting on a more frequent basis.

For now though, I wanted to post links to my first BBM story, a crossover with another fandom that I write in.  I know that crossovers get a bit less play than a 'straight' story, but if you do enjoy it, please let me know.

I am hoping to write some Jack and Ennis stories, and have a few outlines ready.  However, this story is the most complete. I've got about 13/14 chapters written out, with a planned epilogue.  I'll be posting them to LJ, and have already posted the first two chapters.

Chapter 1 http://community.livejournal.com/brokebackslash/474608.html
Chapter 2 http://community.livejournal.com/brokebackslash/476168.html

So again, just wanted to also say hi and introduce myself to everyone.   Thanks also to Louise, who encouraged me to just go ahead and post my story up here.

Hi!
Loved the chapters, as you know.  Just posting here so I'll get notified when you update.  Which will be soon, right???
If you feel like it, can you tell me a little about Stuart and Vince?  Should I rent Q as F to get a little bit of background (not even sure if they're rentable)?
Kelly
PS-Thanks Louise for encouraging Alexis to post!

I'll be posting tonight, once I look over this part one last time.

As for QAF, I would encourage anyone to rent it.  To me, the UK version is brilliant; the writing is funny, smart and witty and the two leads had great chemistry.

In a nutshell, Stuart and Vince are best friends, and have been since Stuart moved to Manchester when he was 14.  They are both gay, out and proud (except Stuart isn't out to his parents.)  Vince's mum (Haze) is very involved in their lives, and most of the action takes place around Canal Street, which is the 'gay ghetto' of Manchester.

Vince has been in love with Stuart forever; and his love is firmly unrequited.  Stuart is a serial shagger, sort of like the king of all around him.  There is a lot of tension between the two of them, a lot of 'will they, or won't they' as far as them actually taking the plunge into being something more than friends.

The series is very short, but you see this growing disillusionment on Stuart's part with his life, with Manchester, with being a big fish in a small pond, and the 2nd part of the series focuses on that.   You can also find out how Stuart and Vince end up in America, if you watch the show. :)

There is a really great ship manifesto on LJ here:

I am always happy to chat about QAF; it's my first fandom, and one I really enjoy.  I've written about 30 or so Stuart and Vince fics, so I do adore those lads.  But Jack and Ennis are definitely catching up on them!
