When did I first climb the mountain?  For the movie it was Sunday, Dec. 18. 2005. (I checked my ticket stub.) For the story it was when it was published in The New Yorker.

Day after Christmas, in Montclair, NJ.

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

Are any screenings being planned for this milestone anniversary?

It would be great if another big event were planned for the Castro Theater again or anywhere. Ten years seems like a small number, but the opening and subsequent flurry of activities in 2005/2006 feels like a long time ago. It would be so nice to time travel back to late December 2005 and January 2006 to relive and re-feel the passion of the time.

Happy Anniversary, Meryl! :-*
And yes, really to all Brokies. None of us would have imagined....
I remember we were already amazed when it was 6, 7,... months and we were still at it, lol.

I haven't seen the movie in 4 years; BM is now mostly about meeting friends and like-minded ppl, barely about actually discussing the movie - but still our boys are on my mind every day in one way or the other. Still have the poster up, directly in front of me when sitting at the computer, the 10 year old ticket stub is in a frame to my left. I have tattooed it to my skin, I have all these experiences with me every day, it has become part of me. And I'm happy and thankful for it all.

I've made a similar comment over the years, but I didn't originate it, Jimmy (gnash) did.  That the experience went from being about "brokeback - the movie" to being about "brokeback - the people".

I'm so glad that because of this movie, my world view has expanded, my knowledge about other countries increased, and that my path crossed with the paths of so many others.

A blessing beyond belief.

I'm loving these memories by Meryl, Chuck and Chrissi...how wonderful that we discovered each other! My life has been enriched immensely due to the phenomenon of Brokeback Mountain. And then it was enriched again by meeting and getting to know all of you. And BetterMost too; it has become a part of my daily life and I can't imagine living without it.

So Herr, you just missed a 10th anniversary showing that was held in Tucson, Arizona. More celebrations and showings will be popping up here and there. John Trudell is the one who seems to know about them all.
