How did you make some words bigger and others smaller? I couldn't find a function to emphasize single words.

Wordle sizes the words by frequency used in the text you submit.  I submitted the whole text of the short story Brokeback Mountain.  So you can see the two most used words in the story, and then the next most, etc.

The one I made above is with the following settings:
Font: Beryllium
Mostly horizontal
Alphabetical
Rounded edges
The 200 most frequent words

I kept reclicking "Re-layout with current settings" til I got one I liked particularly.

It's fun.

I just read the website some more.  If you click on 'Advanced' near the top, it discusses how to to do that selectively.

Hi Lee, not sure what you mean.  That is the site where I made the design.  The only way I found to keep the design is to do a capture, then turn it into a jpg.  I'd love if someone could figure out a simple process.

Cool, Fran.  In reading a little more of the advanced stuff on the site, I saw that if you put a tilda between two words you want to stick together, like "Del~Mar", it will come out looking like "Del Mar," not "Del" one place, and "Mar" another.

What you could try is "Save as ..." with the whole site, with a bit luck, you get a screen cap of everything, then you could cut out the art with a picture editing programm. I haven't tried it myself with the Wordle page yet, but I've done it with other websites.

Guess it's similar to Elle's "Grab" function.

I was following the ABC game rules, where "del" and "Mar" are treated as separate words.   ;D

Seriously, Elle, thanks for the tip.  Here's the re-do:

Not stupid, just not religious.  It's from the bible:   Ecclesiastes 3.  Pete Seeger adapted it into a popular song, "Turn, turn, turn", covered by the Byrds.

There are numerous different translations, but here's one:

Ecclesiastes 3
American Standard Version

1For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:

2a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.

Beautiful, both the bible verses as well as the song. Thank you Paul.

I've known the Byrds version for many years, and always liked it. But as with all music I discovered as a young teenager, I know only parts of the lyrics. My English wasn't good enough to understand much then, and there was no internet, nothing where you could look lyrics up. I remember searching the library for books on music, just for lyrics in them. There was a Rock encyclopedia I lent time and time again, because it had plenty lyrics in it. And the joy of finding out a friend had a certain MC with a booklet including the lyrics! :) Strangely enough, LPs never had lyrics with them, but MCs often did.

Anyway, I really didn't have a chance to know it's based on bible verses, that's right. But I know enough of the lyrics that it's clear as a bell, now that I know the connection of course. :laugh:
