We just got back from Cincinnati. Two of my Dad's cousins are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. We all met at a clubhouse type building out on the east side of town. There were hundreds of people there, and lots and lots of kids. Dad's cousin Jack (I call him Uncle Jack though even though he's really not my uncle) and his wife are one of the couples celebrating their 50th and they live in Charlotte, North Carolina. So they flew in from Charlotte along with their kids, and their grandkids. The other couple did the same thing. Needless to say, there were many people from the other side of the family that I really don't know. So our family (about 30 of us in total) sat at a couple of tables trying to figure out who everyone else was! lol
We left around 1:30, arrived in Milford (east side of Cincinnati) just before 4, stayed until 6:30 and arrived back home around 8:45 or 9. Ever since they've raised the speed limit on the interstates to 70 MPH in Indiana and Ohio it has shaved about 30 minutes each way off our drive time. Downtown Cincinnati is barely a 90 minute drive from Dad's house now. Yay!! Much nicer! Unfortunately we had to drive all the way across town to Milford so the drive today was a little over 2 hours. Still better than the 2 1/2 hours it used to take driving 55.
The weird thing I noticed though is how fast everyone still drives. Back when the speed limit was 55, people would drive 65 or 70. Now that they've raised it to 70, people seem to want to drive 80 or 85. I'm convinced some people will ALWAYS drive 10 or 15 mph over the speed limit no matter how high they set it. That's very dangerous.
So, now we are home and Dad is happy. It was a long and eventful day but it was also fun (for the most part!)
