When I lived in Evansville, I lived in an old Victorian for several years. On Adams Street. It had a bunch of gables, porches and even a turret with a "witch hat" roof. It was beautiful. It had some of the original stained glass windows. The one on the staircase landing was particularly beautiful. When the sun rose in the morning and the light shone through that window, it would throw all kinds of colors, like a rainbow.

The house had several secret passageways too! That house was lots of fun to live in! And the woodwork inside was beautiful. I loved all the pocket doors. :)

Secret passage, how cool is that. It sounds like the stuff of boyhood dreams.
My favourite house ever was the farmhouse we used to live in. I wish I could have that house with Florida weather. Still can't have everything and as I now think 60 degs is freezing, England would finish me and my bones off.

The past few mornings my fingers have been back really bent and swollen and sore, It reminds me why we came here.

Yeah, I think you are correct Fiona. England would feel very chilly to you now, after living in Florida for so long. You're living in a tropical (more or less) climate now. :)

And it is supposed to snow here tonight! >:(

I am not pleased about it at all. :P

Oh, I was also going to tell you something else about Woodruff Place. When my boyfriend (now ex boyfriend) was here a couple of years ago, I took him to my friend's house over at Woodruff Place. When he found out that their house was 125 years old he said "Our new houses are older than that!" lol  (Alex is from the London area). I thought that was cute. And it is true. Even though England is a MUCH older country than the United States, we Americans are very bad about preserving our history. When something gets old, we tend to tear it down and build something new in its place. It is very sad. We shouldn't do that!

I am happy to say though, that Woodruff Place is now on the National Register of Historic Places so those houses should still be standing for many generations to come! :)

I never really watched that show. I probably watched a half a season and then I turned it off. I was a big Buffy fan though! I have seasons 1-4 of Buffy on DVD. I'd like to get the rest of them someday.

And I like The Ghost Whisperer, but I sometimes forget to watch it. :-\

We had an ICE STORM here this morning! A very brief one. But after it was over, I looked out the window and the trees all looked like they had been dipped in silver! They were all silvery looking. I have never seen the trees look like that after an ice storm. Normally they sparkle and twinkle in the sunlight. But today they looked silver. It must have been the way the sun was shining on them. And then, suddenly the ice all melted and the trees were back to normal again. It was very strange.

As far as the winter storm is concerned, the wind has been the worst part for us. Very little snow. Although we did have a sudden burst of snow earlier today and for a few minutes it was total white out conditions. Like a blizzard. In total, we only received a couple of inches, and not all at once either. But the WIND! It has been sooo windy out there. Trees and power lines have been knocked down all across the city. We had wind gusts in excess of 70 mph! And they shook the house sometimes. A few times it felt like an earthquake. The entire house shook and groaned. Awful! The wind is dying down now though, but it is still windy out there.

They said on the news that places like Grand Rapids and Madison may get an additional 2 feet of snow tonight. That is in addition to what they received yesterday. I sure am glad that didn't happen here. It probably will though, eventually. Winter is still very young.... :P

It is currently 18 F outside. The low tonight will be 13 F and a high of 20 F tomorrow. Then it will be back into the upper 30s to lower 40s on Friday. Crazy Indiana!

But those silver trees really were beautiful! I should have taken a picture of it but I can't find my camera. I think I might have left it in Speedway. :-\

I love your description of the trees it sounds almost magical, shame about the camera. The weater here is horrible, wet and grey, totally dreary. WE have had some bad winds too and it has been cold, but now it is just grey and warm, yuk, so much for the sunshine state. There are some very peculiar weather patterns these days.
