Oh yeah I,ve heard that expresion, and I certainly dont think Ellery being with Ennis is a "waste" either. I just wonder why women say that, as if they,d be better off with a woman and somehow being with a guy is second best or something. Just wondered.

I don't think it is from the perspective of being with a guy as being second best...at least, I never thought of it that way. I always took it to mean that a good looking man was out of circulation (for the woman).

I once got into an argument with my brother-in-law about the expression, "Busy as a one-armed paper hanger." I take it to mean that you are so busy, you can't see straight...running around, trying to do everything, not being able to keep up. My BIL, on the other hand, took it to mean being really stupid...in his words, "Why would anyone with only one arm take a job as a paper hanger." Okay....it is all a matter of perspective, I guess.

Bonjour mes amis!

Welcome  Moia!  Good on you for de-lurking!  ;)

That's how I see it too!  It is just an expression to the effect of:  A gay man is not available to date a woman, nor is he interested, hence from the woman's perspective, it is a waste because she can never have him.
I personally don't think that all the good men are married or gay, but that is just my opinion!   ;D

I wonder if straight guys think that all the good women are married or lesbians?  If so, does it bother them?
Wait, alot of straight men 'fantasize' about lesbians .. so never mind .. lol

Hey, I just discovered this new thread today. What can I say - I'm a genious.

So, just wanted to say:

1. Heya Moia. Nice to meet you  :).

2. Re Souxi's question - I don't think Paula meant it was a waste that Ellery is happy with someone else. But as most straight single thirtysomething gals will tell you - a good man is hard to find. So when you meet a dreamboat like Ellery, only to find he's unavailable, that's really, really depressing. Just my 2 zloty, though :)
