In Memory of the Fruit Cake Lady
« on: January 20, 2007, 03:07:51 pm »
I only today learned of the death on 3 November 2006 of Marie Rudsill, known to the world as the Fruit cake Lady on NBC's Tonight Show, and the Aunt of author Truman Capote:

Truman, I DO remember her now. For some reason I don't remember her as The Fruitcake Lady. But I do remember watching her on NBC.

Yeah, she was a riot. I'm so sorry to hear she passed away.

The youtube link is a good sample of who she was, she appeared infrequently on a late night TV show and stole the show usually. NOt many people realized she was the aunt of author Truman Capote, author of "In Cold Blood" and helped raise him. I just love old women who tell it like it is.

This link doesn't appear to work any longer.  I found this one saved on my hard-drive - I'm not 100% sure it's the same video, but still an accurate representation, I believe.
