Big Men - a poem
« on: February 11, 2007, 12:01:39 pm »
Big Men

For John, Perks and Eddie

They were big men,
Wearing coats and ties,
They rode in large automobiles.
With big tires, fenders,
Chrome plated chariots.

They drove 85 miles per hour,
On two lane roads,
With no seat belts,
No air conditioning, save
An open window or floor vent,
Gas milage not even,
A consideration.

With the pump of a handle,
An attendant would raise up,
Another volume,
Golden in the sunlight,
And drain it into their tank.

Truman,

I love it.  You know how to paint pictures with words.  I can see those big men.  Hell, I knew them and would know some still, if there were still 'attendants,' I reckon.

Keep on sharing, friend.
