Shaken, Not Stirred- Mixed Cliches
« on: February 14, 2007, 10:53:14 pm »
My little sister used to take various sayings common to my family (mostly from my mother) and mix them up, which became a sort of folklore over time.  Here are a few of them.  Feel free to add your own:

Don't rain on my balloon.
Dont pop my parade.

Pull yourself up by your saddle
Get back in the bootstraps.

It'll be a cold day in the morning.
Great day in Hell!

If you can't stand the house get out of the apartment!
If you cant stand the kitchen get out of the heat!
“Mr. Coyote always gets me good, boy,”  Ellery said, winking.  “Almost forgot what life was like before I got me my own personal coyote.”

Legendary, in my family is:

I may be dumb, but I am dumber than I look!

This from my Aunt Alma...yes, an Alma in my family!
