"Safe And Sound" - Sheryl Crow

Maybe this is forever
Forever fades away
Like a rocket ascending into space
Could you not be sad
Could you not break down
After all I won't let go

[CHORUS:]
Until you're safe and sound
Until you're safe and sound

There's beauty in release
There's no one left to please
But you and me
I don't blame you for quitting
I know you really try
If only you could hang on through the night
I don't want to be lonely
I don't want to be scared
All our friends are waiting there

[CHORUS]

Feel like I could've held on
Feel like I could've let go
Feel like I could've helped you
Feel like I could've changed you
Feel like I could've held you
Feel like I could've hurt you
Feel like I was a stranger
Feel like I was an angel
Feel like I was a hero
Feel like I was a zero
Feel like I could have changed you
Feel like I could have healed you
Feel like I could have saved you
Feel like I should've heard you
Feel like I could have moved you
Feel like I could have changed you
Feel like I could have healed you
Feel like I should've told you
Feel like I could have loved you
Feel like I could have loved you
Feel like I could have loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I could've saved you
Feel like I could've saved you
Feel like I could've saved you.

'The Bluest Eyes in Texas'

Hey, friends and fellow "Brokeback" fanatics:

I can't believe I didn't think of this one before, as it is my favorite song from one of my favorite groups, Restless Heart. It's so uncannily evocative of BBM, which I see now that I am in thrall to that wonderful work of art. Here are the lyrics:

That lonesome Texas sun was setting low
And in the rearview mirror I watched it go
I can still see the wind in her golden hair
I close my eyes for a moment, I'm still there...

The bluest eyes in Texas
Are haunting me tonight
Like the stars that fill
The midnight sky
Her memory fills my mind
(Where did I go wrong?)
Did I wait too long
Or can I make things right?
The bluest eyes in Texas
Are haunting me tonight

Another town, another hotel room
Another dream that ended way too soon
Left me lonely, prayin' for the dawn
Searching for the strength to carry on

The bluest eyes in Texas
Are haunting me tonight
Like the stars that fill
The midnight sky
Her memory fills my mind
(Where did I go wrong?)
Did I wait too long
Or can I make things right?
The bluest eyes in Texas
Are haunting me tonight

For every heart you break
You pay the price
But I can't forget the tears
In her blue eyes

The bluest eyes in Texas
Are haunting me tonight...

Wow, that's a beautiful one! The songs keep coming, don't they? I am amazed how many songs have all these specific details in them that reminds you of BBM, not just the average love songs, but these tiny details that are EXACTLY about BBM. I love music....

"Love and Happiness" and "Lost on the River" by Emmylou Harris & Mark Knopfler

I haven't listened real close to the lyrics but the tone, Emmylou's voice, and Mark's twangy guitar just remind me of the movie.

..."I'm lost on the river, the river of life."

Here's Love and Happiness:

Here's a wishing well
Here's a penny for
Any tought it is
That makes you smile
Every diamond dream
Everything that brings
Love and happiness
To your life

Here's a rabbit's food
Take it when you go
So you'll always know
You're safe from harm
Wear your ruby shoes
When you're far away
So you'll always stay
Home in your heart

You will always have a lucky star
That shines because of what you are
Even in the deepest dark
Because your aim is true
And if i could only have one wish
Darling, then i would be this
Love and happiness for you

Here's a spinning wheel
Use it once you've learned
There's a way to turn
The straw to gold
Here's a rosary
Count on every bead
With a prayer to keep
Thehope you hold

You will always have a lucky star
That shines because of what you are
Even in the deepest dark
Because your aim is true
And if I could only have one wish
Darling, then it would be this
Love and happiness fot you
And if I could only have one wish
Darling, then it would be this
Love and happiness for you

This is a song by the Jayhawks, Blue, a beautiful song:

Blue-Jayhawks
Where have all my friends gone
They've all disappeared
Turned around maybe one day
You were all that was there

Stood by unbelieving
Stood by on my own
Always thought I was someone
Turned out I was wrong

But you brought me through
And you made me feel so

Blue, why don't you stay behind, so
Blue, why don't you stop and look at what's goin' down

Live by an old woman
She'd never sell me a lie
It's hard to sing with someone
Who won't sing with you
Give all of my mercy
Give all of my heart
Never thought I'd miss you
That I'd miss you so much

But you brought me through
And you made me feel

Blue, why don't you stay behind
Blue, why don't you stop and look at what's goin' down

Stand by, stand by, waiting round
(All my life I'm waiting for, someone I could hold the door)
Now that I'm blue, that I'm blue
(But nothing seems to change, you'll come back I know)
From now on, so

Blue, why don't you stay behind
Blue, why don't you, stay behind
So blue, yeah, yeah, yeah
So blue, why don't you stop and look at what's goin' down

And a great song by a Dutch band, Kane:

Before you let me go

Stay tonight
Let me hold you like I never did before
Take my arms
And let me hold you like I never did before
And I should have tried just to talk about this
Waiting, ending
I should have tried just to let you know that I'm
Still here
So before you let me go...

Take my hands
Let me touch you like I never did before
Take my heart and let me love you
Like I never did before
Like I never did before

And I should have tried just to talk about it
Waiting, ending
I should have tried just to let you know
That I'm still here

But we waste it every time
Now my heart is on the line
And we see ourselves no more
When we're closing every door
It's so much harder than before
So before you let me go

Before you let me go.....

Save the dance and let me spin you
Till your world is turning round and round
Round and round, round and round
Save the chance and let me show you
Just like you need a little more
Just like you need a little more

And I should have tried just to talk about it
Waiting, ending
I should have tried just to let you know
That I'm still here

But we waste it every time
Now my heart is on the line
Until we see oursleves no more
When we're closing every door
It's so much harder than before
So much harder than before
So before you let me go...

Before you let me go...

But we waste it every time
Now my heart is on the line
Until we see ourselves no more
When we're closing every door
It's so much harder than before
So much harder than before

But we waste it every time
Now my heart is on the line
And now we bruise with every step
When we're closing every door
Can we make it easier
Some time?
Some time...

Don't Dream It's Over (Neil Finn)
by Crowded House

There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're traveling with me
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win
Now I'm towing my car, there's a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof
In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the T.V. page
Now I'm walking again to the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
Don't ever let them win

This is one of the loveliest melodies I've heard. I did a little figuring and realized Jack was dead by the time this song came out.   :'(

What a surprise to see the song from Crowded House......and i agree, it is a beautiful song and tune......didnt know anyone from america would have known of Crowded House, they are New Zealand boys but were/are big in Australia......
Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.

It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfection

They were "2 hit wonders" here in the states and this song got to # 2 on our charts. I don't know the other song off hand but if I find it I'll post it. It must be spring down there, no? It's starting to cool off here in the midwestern US as we prepare for fall.

Can't believe I never thought of this one before (or maybe I have, so many pages ago I've lost track...)

Anyway...

Broken Wings ~ Mr. Mister

Baby
Don't understand why we can't just hold on
to each other's hands.
This time might be the last, I fear
unless I make it all too clear
I need you so.

Take these broken wings
And learn to fly again,
learn to live so free.
And when we hear the voices sing
The Book of Love will open up and let us in.

Take these broken wings -

Baby
I think tonight we can take
what was wrong and make it right.
Baby
It's all I know
that you're half of the flesh
And blood that makes me whole
I need you so.

So take these broken wings . . .
Take these broken wings . . .

No more beans!
