Let us in on the debate...I remember the rumor it was about masturbation, myself. Steely Dan also has the "shine in your Japan" line in Bodhisattva which iI heard might be a similar reference.

Yeah Blondie was a group, started in the 70's but big in the 80's too.

Yes, Billy Idol was a real big deal then, but he wasn't my style, I liked the sensitive ones.

Okay I'll try,

Radio Free Europe by REM -the song and band that started my 80's music thing. 

Blue Monday- New Order-Sort of dance music, real emotional atmospheric melancholdy dance song I guess.

Janet Jackson was the 80s too...although she went into the 90s too...
