Thanks injest! And HAPPY EASTER!!
You say this:
I was raised in a fundemental Pentecostal church; and every Easter they would have a big "Passion Play" where they celebrated the 'Pentecost' (what THEY called the Pentecost)
They would have a two hour long play that went over the torture of Christ in excruciating detail....and then spend five minutes on the resurrection...
I always felt they focused on the wrong thing....that their fascination with the torture was a little sick, to me the whole point of the story is the resurrection...
...
May I say that what you write is BBM!! That struggle, of living in pain, in fear, that is making in hardship!!! You think so too??
It is a wonder as to why we accent torture... even to-day too easily, as the murdering of gay men (and of heteros, etc.), of women, of children, even before-birth!! Many humans do things the hard way... like to kill, instead of finding wondrous ways of loving and helping each other!! It is true that violence is always around the corner too!! One must too prepare to counter that violence with abstracts and realisme of LOVE!! I think and know from my own life and of those I know!!
I suppose that resurrection is too much still an abstract thing and that subject is too hard to be described in realistic terms, words, expressions... as in a film and /or story. Annie tries it a bit. And I wish she will continue it and much more describe resurrection.
I think resurrection is described better in many wondrous ways to become happiness at the end of the movie and especially in this:
THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES!! Did you see that movie? Tragedy does make a person superhuman, it seems, in many ways, as some persons have helped others to become happy, gay!! Absence is fear, that thought becomes a sign of presence... since a human wants and can find HOPE and LOVE with ANOTHER person, as in BBM!!
That is EASTER?? Resurrection, is a geste that one can do to help and love another!! ?? Partake, the supper of love, as love is more strong than death!! ??
Offering oneself even if one is in being tortured, can be fearingglory if rendering LIFE as an OFFER!! Instead I prefer, and I say that: Blessed are those who find the glorious POSITIVE non-fearing ways of the much better resurrection of LOVE!!
HAPPY EASTER to you and ALL!!
HUGS!!
