Philip Seymour Hoffman did an impression  of Truman Capote.  Who has ever wanted to see that movie twice?  Heath created the role of Ennis, with incredible humanity and subtlety.  There's no comparison, and there never will be.

Yes, I agree Buds.  I think in some ways it's a "legacy" type award.  And, by that for Heath it really means BBM.  Of course, I truly do think his performance as the Joker was wonderful.  But, clearly, at least in my opinion, the role is nowhere near in the same league as the role of Ennis.

But, again, it's important to note that BBM won best picture (drama) at the Globes.  And it also won best director and a couple other Golden Globes.  So, the Golden Globes did better by BBM than the Oscars.

I'm still really happy for Heath tonight, even with the lingering BBM bitterness.

You're so right, Monika, BBM will certainly outlive Crash, which will disappear in mediocrity.  At least the Golden Globes recognized BBM for what it is.

Once again I am overwhelmed by the applause, standing ovation and outward verbal cheer, when Heath wins an award for the Joker.

....And the exceptional dignified speeches by those who accept the awards, on Heath's behalf. A true reflection of the man, we wish we were watching accepting his award today.

Well done Heath, we miss you, but your legacy lives on.
Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.

It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfection

I´m going to bed. It´s 4.10 am here in Sweden. Must get up for work in an hour or so O0
I do feel happy he won. I think I would have been pissed if he didn´t, inspite of it all. I will go to bed feeling relieved.
Good night everyone

Do we know if the Golden Globes usually does a memorial section?  Is that still coming up?  Or did I miss it?
