I'm glad to share that story!
Jackie's father was a talented painter, and he did a watercolor of her baby shoes, they are the "painted shoes" that spawned her screen name.
She used a pic of the watercolor as her avatar for a while.
DCF runs a feature called "The Daily Sheet" and we have a special edition dedicated to Jackie, with some of her posts, her Q&A session, and things people have said about her. I don't think you need to be a member to read it, so if you (or anyone) would like to learn a little about Jackie, just click this link.

Almost the weekend, thank God! I need a day when I can sleep in! ;D
I hope that people have some cool plans!
Yesterday on DCF, I hit 40,000 posts. I dedicated it to Jackie (Painted Shoes) and I'm pasting it here too.
I'll See You At The Gate
You were a special person
too special for this place
always had a song in your heart
and a smile on your face
opened up your home to friends
and opened your heart too
always ready to share some laughs
and talk to friends when they were blue
a bubbling personality
so brightly your light shone
I would've talked to you much more
but you were always on the phone ;)
and then your last day comes
with the sadness that it brings
but you really couldn't stay here
you had to go and get your wings
you're up among the angels now
there's no more pain and no more hate
and when my time comes to cross over
I know I'll see you at the gate
--- End quote ---
Reminded me of this old poem.
It may actually be a hymn I can't remember:
I'll See You
I’ll see you when I get there,
Shining like the sun.
I’ll see you when I get there,
Into your arms I’ll run.
I see you when the wind blows,
Running without fear,
Born to rest in your fathers arms,
Your joy has dried the tears.
I’ll see you when I get there,
When my life’s complete,
Will you take me to Jesus’ feet?
Hand in hand we’ll sing.
We’re gonna sing for you.
