In the sixth century, Pope Gregory handed down a list of "seven cardinal vices." Now the Vatican has issued an additional seven "social sins."

The seven social sins are:

1. "Bioethical" violations such as birth control

2. "Morally dubious" experiments such as stem cell research

3. Drug abuse

4. Polluting the environment

5. Contributing to widening divide between rich and poor

6. Excessive wealth

7. Creating poverty

Well 5, 6 and 7 make no sense.
So If I work hard and make money somehow that makes me evil?
How does one contribute to widening the gap between rich and poor? If I suddenly loose everything and wind up on the street I am then added to the ranks of the poor. So have I comitted a mortal sin because I have added to the divide?
I think it's just silly.
And how does one "create" poverty?

Hey, there were posts in here about inches of snow. Now they've gone  :-\

And I was going to ask a question about it, too ....  (re: whether you are keeping 'Guest' access).

Or is that why the've gone ?  ;D

I got most of my "Chuck's Salad" ingredients tonite! Yeah -- my little town grocery store had provolone cheese. I was surprised.  :P

Wouldn't the Church then break rule # 6 ?

Hey, folks, I'm, the happiest man alive, today.
Things have been grrrrreat since last weekend.
Have been meeting someone really cute. (sorry Chuck, but I still love ya, hey?).

Happy, that is, except for the sharemarket. Boy, the sub-prime fallout is battering Australian Co's big time, and the ordinary guy with a mortgage is footing the bill of defaulting companies. Pity is, while it is $2 Billion companies in trouble, they still mostly don't have the backing to weather changes in interest rates, and much of the money comes from off-shore.

Oh well. I'm still happy.

 :) :)

CellarDweller:
Rob!  Glad to hear you are happy!

How about a pic of your smiling face?

;)  ;D
