What is funny is that it seems that school lunches were the same regardless of where in the US you went to school.

I always brown-bagged my lunch to school. Funny thing--I can't remember what I did for a beverage.  ???

I did that too. I usually got milk in the Cafeteria for a nickle!

I did similar, My mother would pack my lunch, and learned, the hard way (me lambasting her at the end of the day) that you cannot put cocacola in a thermos. My lunch boxed were never the TV series ones, to my shagrin. I had one that was plaid and another that was in the shape of a mailbox that had the names of odd places and their zip codes, like Sunflower, Kansas, which no longer seems to have a P.O.

I would pay about 25 cents for a carton of milk, and every day, Lawrence Norman would ask me and everyone if he could have their "murlk".

  to the coke/thermos deal.

Did you ever give it over to him?

Did you all have milk break in elementary school? We had milk break mid-morning. Two lucky people got to trek to the lunchroom (we had to go outside and walk a ways down the sidewalk, so it was a very coveted job). They'd bring back how ever many milks people had ordered. Some days, one of us would bring cookies or something to have with the milk!! Those were fun days.
