So, lemme tell you the drama I've had to deal with recently with my car.
I have a 2004 Chevy Tracker. I purchased it, and have been making payments. My last payment was due in January 09. However, occasionally when extra cash fell into my hands, I made extra payments in an effort to get her paid off sooner. So two weeks ago, I got notice that my last payement was due now, I managed to pay her off 5 months early.
So.....I open the bill, all excited, and see this......
Balanced owed, $2,000.00. No no no no no! That is soooo not right. I call the bank's customer service line, and give them my information. After some research, it is determined that my insurance company never sent a copy of my insurance to the bank. To cover themselves in case of loss, they took out their own insurance which they then expected me to pay for.
I calmly told the woman on the phone that my car had been insured since the day I first drove it, and she asked for my insurance rep's name and number. If they could get her a copy of the paperwork, it could all be erased, and a new bill would be sent to me. Once I pay it, the title is sent.
So a day goes by, and I don't hear anything. Second day, I get a phone call from the bank. They have not received the paperwork from my rep. When they called the first time, the fax didn't go through. When the called the second time, she told me the coversation went like this:
Bank: Hello, is this Ms.X
Ins: Yes.
Bank: I'm calling about Charles D's insurance. You were going to fax it yesterday, but it hasn't arrived.
Ins: I did fax it.
Bank: Oh, well, we didn't receive it.
Ins: You know, there's always a problem faxing stuff to you. I'm doing this one more time, and then I'm done!

I apologized to my bank, and told them I would follow up. I called my insurance company right then, and this is how that call went:
Ins: BlahBlah insurance, can I help you?
Me: Ms. X please.

Ms. X: Hello, how can I help you?
Me: Hello, this is Charles D calling.
Ms X: Good morning.
Me: I just received a strange call from my bank about my car loan.
Ms X: Charles, I faxed your policy to them, and they claim they didn't get it. I faxed again today, and they still claim they didn't get it.
Me: Well Ms X, here's the deal. My car has only one payment left, and the bank is attempting to charge me for insurance they took out because they think I had none, because they never received the insurance in the first place. I don't care who made the error. They are not going to release the title of the car to me until the loan is paid in full, and I do no intend to pay $2,000.00 because you can't send a fax. So I suggest you get off your butt and fax the policy over, or overnight it to them, so I can make my last payment.
Goodbye.

I got a call from the bank a few hours later that they received my policy.
