So where are you roadtripping to Chuk?

New Zealand celebrates Guy Fawkes so the last few nights about 9pm (when it gets dark) there have been explosions around. They only sell fireworks for 4 or 5 days before. When I was a child in Australia we celebrated on Commonwealth (once Empire) day May 24 then it moved to Queen's Birthday (2nd Monday in June) much more suitable dates in Southern hemisphere. However Australia banned the sale of fireworks many years ago and now there are just community organised and licenced ones. NZ is thinking of going the same way as each year there are school fires and a woman here had lighted fireworks thrown into her car the other day from a passing car and she had children on board. Hoons spoil everything.

My friend has just moved to Oz and she said how weird it was on 5 November for there to be no fireworks... no I understand why even the expats dont have any!

Happy Hump day!  I have managed to stay on top of my work, and my cube is pretty clean, so today will be filing and other stuff so that when I leave today, I don't have to worry about anything until I come back on Tuesday.

So where are you roadtripping to Chuck?

Kelda, I'm driving down to Maryland to visit friends.  The daughter-in-law and grandkids of Jackie, my late friend from DCF who was known at the gatherings as "Painted Shoes".

It's been a bit quiet in here.  Praps we'd better let off a few crackers 

Guy Fawkes night was on November 5th in Oz, too, back when the 'grown ups' had to light the fireworks and I could only watch.
It was shifted to a cooler month in the state of South Australia, where I lived, because of the danger of bushfires (that was the official reason), and later banned altogether (too many kids losing fingers was the official reason, then), 'tho Victoria held on to it for a while longer.

I always thought that sharks were the males, and dolphins were the females !

I've had a light breakfast, went to the park for a work out, had a light lunch, going back to the park for a second work out, and then a shower and shave, and get ready for my 'date' at the bookstore and café.
