Speaking of gay heads  ;D  I learned via the parish newsletter that, a hundred years ago next year, my church had a member who went down with the Titanic. His body was recovered and buried in Philadelphia. At the time of his death, he was a 40-year-old bachelor devoted to his widowed mother. ...  8)

Good morning, Chuck!

I hope you can get more sleep tonight.  It's not fun, trying to work when you are sleepy.

Hiya BetterMost friends.

Blaze had a visit with the vet yesterday, and he HATES the vet.

Mom said that when she got him there, he refused to come out of the carrier.  The vet tilted the carrier, and when Blaze came out, he hissed, growled, and proceeded to shit and piss all over the table top.

The vet (who is Muslim and has dreadlocks) replied with "Blaze, don't do that to me, we're brothers!  We're both black."

Blaze is back home.  For a while, he was  wobbling around as the sedative werel wearing off.  He has to be sedated for the vet and his assistants to handle him.  LOL  Blaze is now up to date on his shots, had his fur cleaned and shaved in places, claws are clipped.

Today's travel destination:

Lofoten Islands, Norway

Summer nights bring not darkness, but eight hours fo dusk to this 118-mile-long archipelago more than 800 miles north of Oslo.  Small fishing communities set against a dramatic wall of towering snow-patched peaks, welcome vacationing mainlanders adn inspiration-seeking artists attracted to the islands's stuck-in-time rhythm.

Good morning, Chuck.

That would be such a beautiful place in summer.  But who could sleep?

Hiya BetterMost friends.

Anyone have good plans for the weekend?

I'll be at a friend's bbq at their new house.  Looking forward to it!  I think I'll bring a dozen Red Velvet Cupcakes.

;D

Today's travel destination:

Brandywine Valley, Pa.

It's hard to go far in Delaware and Pennsylvania's Brandywine Valley without bumping into the legacy of the founding family of the DuPont company.  At Winterthur, Delaware, one DuPont heir created 60 acres of of magnificent gardents and a mansion museum of 19th century antiques and decorative arts.  Other heirs left other gifts, including:

Longwood Gardens (pictured below), Kennett Square, Pa.
Hagley Museum & Library, Wilmington, De.
Nemours Mansion & Gardens, Wilmington, De.
Hotel du Pont and du Pont Theatre, Wilimington, De.

Good morning, Chuck!

Yum, red velvet cupcakes.   ;D

I've been to Longwood Gardens at Kennet Square, PA several times.  The building in the back is where they have a "hot house" for indoor tropical plants.  There's also a vast acreage of outdoor plants and trees.

It's really impressive.  I'd go more often except that it's waaaaaaaaay across town, almost in Delaware -- a really long drive.
