Hello Bettermost Friends!

Well my goodness!  It's snowing like crazy here, and it's supposed to go on until about 1:00 this afternoon or so (another 5 hours from now) with some high winds coming it too.

I managed to get to work safely, and I think I'm the only one here!  LOL  The other half of the floor is dark, the lights are on for my area, but it's quiet as hell here!

I'm gonna see if anyone else is around...be right back!

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

Yup, I am indeed the only one here!

Nice and quiet, perhaps I'll get work done!   ::)

Hi Chucky, hapy new year.....

Its all over but the shouting eh!...Christmas and new year celebrations done for another year.

Looks like the northern and southern hemispheres are having extremes in their weather....down here we are having record heat waves and a dire need for rain, as a lot of the country is in drought.

I wish you, and all your friends on here, a happy and healthy 2014...

Happy New Year to you too, darlin'!  Yup, there's always a big build up for the holidays, and now it's over.  Oh well!

I hope you get the rain you so desperately need!  Right now we're looking at a ton of snow.  Where I am now could get up to 10-12 inches of snow, I want to say we have about 6 inches now, so we're halfway there.

That's one of the things that seems strange to me about Christmas in the US: there's all that build up; the decorations, the gift searching, the plan making for food and meeting your family - and then it's over after only one day. Only one single, meager day and poof - that was it. The next day people have to return to regular work schedules, shops, banks, etc. are open again, just a regular day.
I would feel betrayed if we had only one day after all this build up. I barely manage to squeeze everything that belongs to Christmas into three days.

Oh gosh, isn't that creepy?

I hate it when I'm the only one at work. Doesn't happen often, only if I'm staying unusually late and everyone else has already left.

I don't like it, so I make sure it doesn't happen very often.

I agree Chrissi - I'd hate to work on boxing day for example. And in Scotland January 2nd is a public hioliday too.. I go back to work on Tuesday.

Speaking of Christmas Cards Chuck - I got yours Chrissi's and Paul's cards when I returned from my aunt's in Gloucester - we went down on 22nd and returned on 29th - thankyou to all.

I heard that "grandma got run over by a reindeer" was the most popular of Xmas songs in the US.

Over here there are a few classics that I think the rest of the world have no clue about..

Phew, thanks for telling me. This is the first feedback I've had for my cards so far. I already asked Jens if he really, really had brought them to the post office.

The rest of the world? Hm, let's see: most of the videos don't play for me, but Slade - of course I know and like it!
The Pogues - Fairytale of New York is one of my favorite Christmas songs!
Cliff Richard: yup, know that one (not a favorite however).
Shakin Stevens: hey, I was around in the 80ies ;) This song also gets a like, but no favorite.

The only one sounding unfamiliar is the first. Wizzard? - never heard of them, and neither of their song. I went to youtube and found a version that plays in my country - unknown to me.

Now I'm curious if there's a noticeable difference between Europeans and Americans. :)

Over here the holiday season goes on and on. Besides Boxing Day, we have 2 public holidays at New Year, Jan 1 & 2. However everything is in holday mood with lots of people away and many businesses shut down or light staffed for at least 2 weeks.  As a teacher I always had about 5 weeks holiday anyway. In Australia we returned to school the day after Australia day Jan 26 and it seems to be similar here in NZ.
Of course, officially in the church Christmas does not end until Epiphany on Jan 6. I had lunch at the vicarage on New years day and they were choosing carols to be sung next sunday although an emphasis on 3 wise men for Epiphany.
I will take down my few decorations and cards on Monday although I did take the one string of coloured lights off my large Rhododendron on Jan 2. I only put them up about Dec 15. My walking groups begin again next week but other regular activities do not begin until February.

We've heard of Cliff Richard over here in the Colonies.  ;D

Hello Bettermost Friends!

After all the snow here,  thought a snowflake as seen under a microscope would be appropriate.

Was a busy day today, as I 'undecorated" the apartment.  All the lights, the cards, the tree, all is gone and packed away.

;D

I also managed to get some shopping done, and now I'm just relaxing.
