It's a time for atonement amd reflection going into the Easter season.
I was raised to believe that Christs sacrifice and his grace are enough and that he paid the ultimate sacrifice so there is nothing we have or should do as far as having to do somthing or give up somthing to atone for our sins.
That belief is based on the verse in Ephesians (can't remember chap and verse, I'm slippin  :laugh:)
Salvation comes through faith and that by grace and not of our own works so none may boast.
But I never understood that because I always thought Lent wasn't done to insure salvation but just as an act of love.
I could be wrong, it happens! :-\

The point of Ash Wednesday has always been to me the day all my Catholic friends and acquaintences remind me they are Catholic by wearing a smuged black dot on their foreheads.
