As far as I know, almost no one in Seattle has air conditioning.  I moved here about 14 years ago from the south, and as I was looking for an apartment to rent, I kept being shown ones that didn't have air conditioning, and so wouldn't consider it.  Finally someone told me that no one has air conditioning here, which is still pretty true.

We usually have maybe 10 days a summer that are pretty unpleasant without it, especially when the house stays hot at night, but otherwise, it's true, fans are usually enough.

It sounds like you'll have to suffer through it, Clarissa. I hate to hear this! Maybe you could go and buy just a window air condition unit to put in your bedroom? So you can stay cool at night? They aren't very expensive anymore. I think you can purchase a 7,500 BTU for under $100.00. Maybe the heatwave will break soon.

I have central air at my house and I'm so happy I have it. It can get very hot where I live during the summer. Not all the time, but we have lots of days here in the upper 90's, definately hot enough to warrant air conditioning.

Hunh, I may check into it.  But this current heat is supposed to be over tomorrow.

Thanks, David.  :)

Hey Clarissa! I found a 5200 BTU for $109.99 at BestBuy...

I haven't checked Fry or Circuit City. I could have sworn I saw 7500 BTU's for under $100.00 last year. Anyway, a 5200 BTU would probably be enough to cool your bedroom.

I hope the heatwave breaks tomorrow, like you said. But it might be a good idea to go ahead and purchase a small unit, just in case. At least you'd have it there, ready to use in case it gets hot again. Summer hasn't even started yet!  :P

He sure is. We all luv ya David-sweetie :-*

I had to smile about the air-condition conversation ;D. Over here, Americans are (in)famous for their addiction to air-condition (and their liking of beverages two degrees above the freezing point, lol).

The only time air-condition in houses were a topic over here was in summer 2003. We had temperatures around 40°C (104°F) for months that summer (and my Oliver is born end of August 2003; I was advanced in pregnancy during the hottest summer in decades :P).
