That was terribly sad. I seem to remember he had walked essentially in a circle, and his body was found not too far from where the car was stuck.

Yes, Jeff...1/2 mile.

I read somewhere that people were gearing up for lawsuits because the gate that closed off the hunting road wasn't vandalized, it just had never been locked in the first place like it was supposed to be.

Poor guy.

I am very jealous of David in warm sunny Florida, as it is a whopping -2 deg F here this morning! When my husband got up at 4 am it was 0, so in the intervening 2.5 hours, it has gone down 2 degrees.

Can anyone say ARCTIC AIR? LOL

Hey Leslie,

how are you doing? We're getting news reports here that a fierce winter storms has got the US in its grip, all the way to Maine? 50 people killed already, no electricity, schools closed...

Wrap up warm!  :)

Hi Fabienne,

In my little corner of the world, known as Westbrook, ME, we are doing just fine. On Monday we that the day of "wintry mix" but no real accumulation (here...I did read that they received 10" in Western Maine). It wasn't an ice storm, so no ice on the trees--the thing that usually makes the power go out. Driving has been okay although there was a bad accident on Monday and people were killed.

But, the folks you know from our regular chat seem to be experiencing more of this storm. Scott had the power go out at his office yesterday and had to leave early. Karen is frozen like an icicle down in Austin and last I heard, will be staying home again today. And Janice, out in Oregon (the other Portland) says the cars were like pinballs on the highway. It really does seem to be a nationwide storm, which, given the size of the US, is rather amazing!

You can bet I'll keep warm...the car is turned on and warming up now and I actually have dug out my hat and mittens!

Finally wintry cold down here in Pennsylvania, but not a flake, crystal, or drop of precipitation. Go figure. ...  :-\

When SoCal is colder than much of the mid-west, something is terribly wrong. 27 degrees when I got home Tuesday morning from West Virginia.
Be prepared to pay a whole lot more for citrus and avocados...

Sorry to hear about all the cold weather out there too. They said on the news the citrus crops are in really bad shape right now.
