Hi Friends! Thanks for your greetings when I posted a week ago. Since then, Carmen has gone through tech week and morphed from a chamber of horrors (Piano Tech) into a darn good show. We opened last night and
le toute Anchorage approved. Happily, the show is sold out for the run.
Tonight I'm in Fairbanks, about a 7-hour drive north of Anchorage, in hopes of seeing the northern lights and intending to have a nice soak tomorrow at the Chena hot springs just north of here. I can use some de-stressing after the last 3 weeks. Alaska is great, and I'm glad I have some extra time at last to explore a bit. The state seems to have an inexhaustible supply of beautiful mountains and nice people.
I've thought of Brokeback many times. Just today, we crossed the Jack River heading north, and a souvenir shop had coyote faces for sale (yes, they look like little masks--kind of unsettling). I saw a YE HAW license plate the other day, and there's a Del Mar Taco restaurant in Anchorage. On another subject, I had my picture taken outside the Wasilla Town Hall today and passed by what is probably Sarah Palin's church.
Hope y'all are doing fine. Congrats to Jeff and Paul on your mileposts and to Leslie for making the 400,000th post!
