Apparel related question of the day:
What item of clothing or jewelry can guys wear to indicate that they're gay and available? Gals?
I'm new to all this and don't know why anyone would ask me for advice, but they do anyway!
Sometimes the clothing signals can be pretty specific to a particular community. For instance, when I was in college, women used to wear a conspicuous item of purple (like purple shoelaces, or a purple bracelet, etc.)... just some item of purple that really stood out from the rest of your outfit. As far as I'm aware, this signal isn't really applicable most places.
Then, of course there are the standard things like a rainbow item of jewelry or a triangle item of jewelry. I wear a black triangle instead of a pink one because black is specifically for women.
Almost all of my pride jewelry has come from ex-girlfriends (gifts, etc.) or are things I've purchased with ex-girlfriends during shopping trips etc. My favorite black triange earring once belonged to my favorite ex-girlfriend (and she actually gave me quite a lot of the cool lesbian jewelry that I have. And, I bought my favorite rainbow bracelet during a weekend beach trip with another ex- and she got a matching bracelet at the time. I wonder if she still has it. I wore that particular bracelet during my recent Seattle trip because it happened to be Pride weekend there during my visit. So, I thought I'd at least make a tiny nod towards that event.
