That is apparently Eva Mendes. She is and "Actress" by that I mean she has been in what I consider crappy films, although she was in "Trust The Man" with Maggie, so maybe that is where Jake knows her from.

Anyway I am absolutely extactic that Jake won "Best Performance", I mean he deserves it! And Heath and Jake for winning "Best Kiss", although I would have preferred a reinactment. I knew those 20 odd votes would come in handy, I bet everyone in BM voted atleast once so really it was all our doing!

I love pictures of Jake at awards, he is just histerically funny sometime, ala the BAFTAs. I wonder if he pulled another "Shout back" stunt at these awards. I especially like the second from last pisture that Jenny posted cause if you look at it in a certain way it seems as if he is proud of the award but if you look closer it seems to me that he is thinking, "what a piece of junk, Why is this award so ugly?" but it is true, that award is a heap of junk, but I am sure Jake will find a cupboard somewhere to hide it in.

Also if you see below on the first picture I posted Jake was eating Starburst during the ceremony. The packet is only just open, so he is like me and only eats one and give the packet to someone else(us stars can afford that you know ) or he is saving the rest until later, yeah I think it is the first one too.

I'd love to know what Adam Sandler said to him to make him laugh like that.

I am guessing he said something like, "Ok I'll be Heath and you be you, we can reinact this thing up real nice we don't need that Heath, we have each other!"

Australian actor Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal have won an award - for best kiss - in the film, Brokeback Mountain.

The Oscar-winning film won the second-highest number of awards at the MTV Movie Awards, an offbeat awards show which lets MTV viewers choose the winners.

It's known for thumbing its nose at more high-brow ceremonies with categories like "best fight", statues of golden popcorn and shameless plugs for upcoming summer blockbusters.

Gyllenhaal also won best performance in the gay cowboy role in Brokeback Mountain.

In the steamy scene, Ledger and Gyllenhaal are seen kissing on the steps to Ledger's home by his on-screen wife Michelle Williams (now his real life wife). The two wins by Brokeback were rare for a critically acclaimed movie at the awards show.

Gyllenhaal kept the mood light when accepting the award for best kiss by keeping a wide distance between himself and the award's male presenter, singer Justin Timberlake, while the two shook hands. He gave actress Eva Mendes, the co-presenter, a peck on the cheek.

I KNOW!  I think it's just amazing how much recognition this film has gotten.  This is from the main BBM info page on imdb as of today "Won 3 Oscars. Another 61 wins & 51 nominations".  All of this should be emphasized on the DVD packaging instead of just the kudos about the 3 Oscars.

Naw, not me - I don't care to see Heath kissing Jake - and that's what you would have seen had they re-enacted the kiss.

I'm really glad for the recognition they got. It would have been nice to see the two together again, but the kiss ... no! It would have to be Ennis & Jack and that can't ever happen again.

I completely agree with this view. I would have cringed. Not that I would have seen it -- no cable. (True, as David pointed out, I could have caught it on the internet, but if I knew they had kissed I would not have watched.)

On my "is heath married?" thread I have been trying to post regular updates on the mystery...so far, we have a press release where Michelle refers to Heath as her husband, a news story where Heath refers to Michelle as his wife and another news story about Michelle's dad being arrested in Australia and he is referred to as Heath Ledger's "father in law."

I am of the opinion that somewhere along the line they got quietly married. I am working on finding conclusive evidence oif this...

Me, I am bereft too....  I had high hopes as well, I even signed up for deluxe digital cable to be able to see MTV Canada next Thursday and tape it for posterity.  Oh well, I am just so glad that they won it, and that Jake won as well!  I was expecting another Oscars disappointment...

  this may have already been answered but here goes:  I know there was no re-enactment of the kiss at the awards, but did they show the scene from the reunion in the movie, where the passion was so great in both of them that the kiss just was so explosive??

For all of you that for some reason can't see or hear the wonderful Jake, here is what he says in the clip:

I could swear that on Sunday morning when I watched a vid clip of his acceptance speech that he ended with a line like "As we continue to do." Did anyone else notice it was missing?
