FYI: Jakes' pickup truck sold for over $60,000 !

Wow!    I'll bet that teenager who owned it fainted from that last bid!   :o

I hope it is going to a good home.    :'(

I'm so jealous of whoever bought it - I would have LOVED to own that, but sadly sixty grand is a little out of my very meager price range.

Jack's black pickup truck is again part of an auction - sounds as if it's for a good cause.

"LETHBRIDGE, ALTA. -- An Alberta man who bought the black pickup truck made famous in the movie Brokeback Mountain is auctioning off a one-time summer tour package of the film's locations in southern Alberta -- as seen from the cab of the pickup.

Rob Freeman, a millionaire who made his money when he sold his company, London Telecom, to Primus in 1999, splits his time between a home in Bragg Creek, near Calgary, and a farm near Burlington.

Proceeds from the winning bid for the three-day excursion will go to charity.

Freeman, who suffers from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, says the disease made him stronger and more focused on helping others.

He provided seed money to start the Rob Freeman Foundation, which helps maintain a group home in Burlington for adults with special needs and has begun to provide backing for cancer and HIV/AIDS research.

Money from the Brokeback Mountain Movie Truck Tour will go to the foundation.

Bidding opened at $2,500 US on EBay and closes Tuesday.

Freeman bought the 1950 GMC pickup this spring for more than $70,000 US on EBay from teenager Matt Kennedy.

Kennedy and his father, former NHLer Dean Kennedy, bought it from the moviemakers at auction for an undisclosed amount.

In the movie, the flat black step-side belonged to the character Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) and appeared in several scenes, including the opening.

To save wear and tear on the vintage pickup, the winner and Freeman will travel in it -- but on a flatbed trailer pulled by another truck."
