Quite right... Thats one of the reasons I put up this poll. As people become confused they are less likely to post, and then the next thing we know, half the cast and crew will be gone. I like the thread as it is, but it does jump around a bit. I think I once called it a seven ring circus. Highly entertaining, but also very distracting.... Just trying to get some ideas.

Also, and I think I've pointed this out before, but maybe not. As people get used to the characters they are playing and the characters they are interacting with, they become lodged in a type of rhythm of bound, rebound, bound, rebound. When a character (i.e. the person playing the role) goes missing or has limited posting availability, that rhythm is halted rather suddenly. The entrance of an understudy doesn't help the situation any, as most people I think would prefer to wait for the person they are building this rhythm with to return, and the rhythm is somehow lacking in those moments when understudies must step forward.

In many ways, I suppose this could have been avoided if parts had not been assigned to specific people. But freeform performances of that sort are rarely emotionally developed. I have already apologized for my part in creating the disruption that you see, Celeste, and am now trying to do what I can to fix it without upsetting everyone. I appreciate your candor in this regard, and am open to any suggestions you may have. Its one of the reasons I put a "None of the Above" choice on the poll.

Well, I think it is subplot.... just highly detailed subplot. Thats one of the things I apologized for was Guy's extreme vulnerability and complexity as a character. Realistic, perhaps, but very distracting when those complex details emerge in a way which pulls the story away from the Brokeback Mountain elements. And of course, other characters are responding to Guy's complexity and actually drawing it out, which is also very realistic, but distracting again.

I'm trying very hard to keep from apologizing again, because I do see this disruption as being my fault. Like I said before, I am trying to do my best to fix it.  I am a little surprised that our directors haven't stepped in more forcefully to guide the action back towards the events of the film. I know that Ray's not available right now, but sometimes we need some direction to keep us from meandering all over the place like I have done. I should say I need direction, I guess, not we.

Daniel is two main characters?  Lucise is two main characters, one named after her who is actually a guy?

Just one point of clarification:

Lucise Indapaddock is one person who has always been a man.

That's all my 2 cents.  :)
Thanks.

I've been reading TP for the last week or so. I find it to be totally entertaining. I love the subplots. They bring the life and energy to everything. They turn the production  into what I think what it was intended to be...fun.  I would'nt change a thing. And please don't get too serious. I love it because its on the lightside. If ya all get serious about it it will ruin it!

Well Guy is a little bit serious, but I'm trying to make him serious in a fun way..... The union of opposites is always a creative challenge.

Daniel.
You are rocking as Guy. I love all his Phobias. They are hysterical. Your a great Jack too. I loved when he slapped himself to stop from rhyming everything. I almost choked on my cookie!

I don't know about everyone else, but, well...

I often turn off the movie at about this point. The Performance Thread is sitting right there at the point where the movie starts to turn sad. And though I love it for its sadness, sometimes it hurts too much to think about it beyond that point.

(And that's speaking as the Evil Symbol that's trying to force Jack and Ennis off the mountain!)

I guess what I'm saying is that the silliness of the Performance Thread seems to me to be one way of letting go of the pain. And at this point in the movie, there's less and less silliness to be had in the story itself, and maybe the subplots are necessary to allow us to keep laughing through our tears?
Watch out. That poster has a low startle point.

One critical thing to remember the Production of Broke Arsed Mountain was NEVER intended to be a true telling of the story of Jack & Ennis, excuse me folks but that's already be done and far better than any of us could ever dream of telling it.  It is a joke, a parody, a caricature.

It was never supposed to be serious, It was RAY our currently absent Court Jester who started it after all,  ;)  it is a cartoon if you will, that involves not only the plot lines of the story Brokeback Mountain but the stories and sub-plots of Broke Arsed Mountain the crazy folks trying to make the movie....Get IT.  It's certainly no different than all that Fan Fiction that some folks are so addicted to that bears absolute no resemblance to Brokeback Mountain or Jack and Ennis in anyway...many of those stories put words in Ennis Del Mar's mouth that he just would NEVER have been able to say out loud if he could even have allowed himself to think them.

SO far I think everyone involved is brillant and fiercely creative.  No apologies necessary, no changes needed as far as I am concerned.   It's kind of like that Lines Visualized thread there were only a handful of folks who ever posted on it but dozens who enjoyed reading it everyday.  I personally say "Let Be" I would not change a thing.  In the climate around here the last few weeks it was and continues to be a much need ray of sunshine and good old fashioned fun.

Just my opinion

Well I was having fun being the Continuity Director, but I did not want to assume to be more than I was, I think I was prefacing a lot of my messages to you Daniel, and to DeeDee with that, I certainly did not want to usurp a position I was not asked to do.  I would have been more than happy to play an active role in gently guiding the PT, this is something I can be very good at, even though I suck at composing humorous posts.  But when I send PM with questions to you and to others, and I get no answers to my questions and I am ignored, I feel very badly.  Add that to the fact that I have been put in my place about casting matters.  The only reason I was butting in to casting matters is because for the Continuity Director to send out Call Sheets, it naturally follows that I would ascertain that there are ac-tors to play the parts coming up.  I was also sending PM to the people whose parts were coming up.  I am a very good organizer, always have been…
BTW even though the Cast List does not reflect, we do not presently have an ac-tor to play Older Jack.

I'm sorry for failing to answer your questions, Jane. Usually, I don't care either way, so I'm willing to let DeeDee decide those things. If she doesn't respond, feel free to ask me again, letting me know, and I'll give you my opinion. Even though Jack is a very active character, he keeps looking to Ennis for cues as to what can or should be done. Ennis is the main character, and as Jack, I'm loathe to make decisions that I feel Ennis should be making. I love DeeDee and she plays a wonderful Ennis.
