--- Quote from: Arad-3 on October 08, 2006, 07:43:09 pm ---Hi David,
I was wondering if this song was a bigger hit in your state than it was in mine. Do you remember this song?

Geri, I remember hearing that song when I was just a kid! I haven't heard it in years though, and I would imagine most Hoosier teens have NEVER heard of it.
There was another one too....something about "It never rains in Indianapolis in the summer time" or something like that. The song wasn't about Indiana, but Indy was mentioned in it, I think. I also remember a song about Gary, Indiana too.
I haven't heard any of those songs in a long time. Thanks for posting about it and thanks for the pic too! :)

David I remember a song called "It never rains in Southern california in the summer time" Maybe thats it? i think these songs were "one hit wonders" that once in a while someone would play them on the jukebox and then it would bring back memories. I dont think they were songs that bands played very often though.

I have the 45 of this one:
Artist/Band: Miller Roger
Lyrics for Song: Little Green Apples
Lyrics for Album: All Time Greatest Hits
And i wake up in the morning with my hair down in my eyes and she says hi
And i stumble to the breakfast table while the kids are going off to school, goodbye.
And she reaches out and takes my hand and squeezes it and says how you feeling hon?
And i look across at smiling lips that warm my heart, and see my morning sun.
And if that's not loving me, then all i've got to say,
God didn't make the little green apples, and it don't rain in indianapolis in the summer time.
And there's no such thing as dr. seuss or disney land and mother goose, no nursery rhymes.
God didn't make the little green apples, and it don't rain in indianapolis in the summer time.
And when myself is feeling low, i think about her face and go and ease my mind.
Sometimes i call her up, at home, knowing she's busy.
And ask her if she can get away, meet me and maybe we can grab a bite to eat.
And she drops what she's doing and she hurries down to meet me, and i'm always late.
But she sits waiting patiently, and smiles when she first sees me, because she's made that way.
And if that ain't loving me, then all i've got to say,
God didn't make the little green apples, and it don't snow in minneapolis when the winter comes.
And there's no such thing as make-believe, puppy dogs or autumn leaves, no bb guns.
God didn't make the little green apples, and it don't snow in minneapolis when the winter comes.
Gary Indiana was from the Music Man. And of course this movie is a favorite!

Song: Gary, Indiana Lyrics
Harold:
Gary, Indiana!
What a wonderful name,
Named for Elbert Gary of judiciary fame.
Gary, Indiana, as a Shakespeare would say,
Trips along softly on the tongue this way--
Gary, Indiana, Gary Indiana, Gary, Indiana,
Let me say it once again.
Gary, Indiana, Gary, Indiana, Gary, Indiana,
That's the town that "knew me when."
If you'd like to have a logical explanation
How I happened on this elegant syncopation,
I will say without a moment of hesitation
There is just one place
That can light my face.
Gary, Indiana,
Gary Indiana,
Not Louisiana, Paris, France, New York, or Rome, but--
Gary, Indiana,
Gary, Indiana,
Gary Indiana,
My home sweet home.

Well, I managed to take some pictures of my "son" Cody today!
He decided to cooperate with me. Normally Cody is skidding across floors, knocking things over (if you read my "coffee maker post" you'll know what I am talking about), chasing the cat... all those fun "puppy things" most young dogs enjoy doing.
He just had his weekly bath before I took these pictures and I guess he was feeling photogenic. Anyway, I thought I would share some of my pictures of Cody with you. He is a 2 year old Golden Retriever.
Cody trying to act cute. Yeah, he knows he's good looking!
Cody watching a bug crawl past him. Sheesh.
This is the look Cody always gives me when I get up and leave the room.
Yeah. He knows he's a cool stud! Let's put some sunglasses on him!
