Book Club: What Shall We Read Next?

<< < (5/9) > >>

Front-Ranger:
A group is getting together to read "The Last of the Wine" by Mary Renault. Join us! A topic has been created in Anything Goes.

Daniel:

--- Quote from: Front-Ranger on December 29, 2006, 02:40:24 pm ---A question for Daniel: I see that Foer's first listed work was A Convergence of Birds, which he edited. Is that the same as the book you read??

And for everyone: Foer has also written Everything is Illuminated which was made into a movie starring Elijah Wood. I prefer "Extremely" to it, but we can read "Everything" instead if you prefer.

I also highly recommend listening to Extremely, the recorded book. The voices in it are amazing, and really bring the book to life!!

No, Its the "Conference of the Birds"

Eire1978:
I actually would like to suggest a novel that is not in the list. It's my favourite novel and I'm also working on it for my PhD thesis. It's called "Eureka Street" (1996) and the author is Belfast born Irish novelist Robert McLiam Wilson.
It has been a best seller in many European countries and it was awarded the prestigeous Prix Gallimard for fiction, plus other awards.

Has anyone here read it?

Front-Ranger:
Discussion of The Virginian is now winding up! It's time to consider our next book discussion. I'll add the other suggestions to the poll and drum up some more votes.

Front-Ranger:
I have also ordered The Cowboy Way.
