Front-Ranger:
I've started a discussion of The Cowboy Way on Anything Goes. Join us!!

Front-Ranger:
Some good recommendations for summer reading!

michaelflanagansf:
A word of explanation, please!  Once you choose your books to discuss, where are the threads for the individual books?

Front-Ranger:
They're right here in the Culture Tent. We have one for The Virginian, one for Postcards, one for The Cowboy Way, and one for Brokeback Mountain. I believe there are also some for Mary Renault books.

--- Quote from: Tony-Ranger on December 29, 2006, 12:48:24 am ---This just in! Jonathan Safran Foer lives in the same buliding as Heath and Michelle!!

Here are a few words from the beginning of "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close"

First chapter: "What The?"

What about a teakettle? What if the spout opened and closed when the steam came out, so it would become a mouth, and it could whistle pretty melodies, or do Shakespeare, or just crack up with me?"

Later on on page one is this quote:

"I wonder if everyone's heart's would start to beat at the same time, like how women who live together have menstural periods at the same time, which I know about, but don't really want to know about."

--- End quote ---

Hopefully it will be ready for screening this fall, which will be the 10th anniversary of the event that is a linchpin of the plot: the destruction of the World Trade Center.
